In this role, you'll provide centralized leadership and coordination across several key areas of the Bank's risk and control environment.

You'll:

  • →Provide enterprise-wide leadership and coordination of risk management activities.
  • →Serve as a primary liaison with federal and state regulatory agencies and help coordinate regulatory examinations, responses, and follow-up activities.
  • →Support and guide the Bank's Compliance Management System and regulatory change management process.
  • →Provide strategic direction and coordination of BSA/AML, fraud risk management, compliance, and internal audit functions.
  • →Partner with Credit leadership on emerging credit, concentration, portfolio, and asset-quality risks.
  • →Provide oversight or CECL processes, controls, documentation, and monitoring.
  • →Promote consistent application of operational controls, segregation of duties, vendor management practices, and risk ownership across the organization.
  • →Help ensure the Bank remains prepared for regulatory examinations and that identified issues are addressed appropriately and timely.
  • →Partner across departments to identify control gaps, clarify responsibilities, and coordinate processes.
  • →Identify emerging regulatory, operational, credit, and strategic risks and coordinate appropriate responses.
  • →Develop and monitor meaningful key risk indicators (KRIs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and other risk reporting.
  • →Provide senior management and the Board with clear, meaningful information regarding material risks, regulatory matters, control issues, and remediation efforts.
  • →Promote accountability and a strong risk culture throughout the organization.
  • →Experience in information technology risk management is preferred.

We're looking for someone who combines strong banking knowledge with strategic thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to influence across an organization.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in banking, financial services, enterprise risk management, audit, compliance, operations, credit, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in risk management or a related field.
  • Previous leadership-level risk management experience within a financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of financial institution regulatory requirements and examination expectations.
  • Experience working across multiple areas of risk, compliance, audit, operations, credit, or technology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple high-impact responsibilities.
  • Clear, confident, and influential communication skills.
  • Strong professional judgment and the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • A reputation for integrity, accountability, resilience, and follow-through.
  • You're someone who doesn't wait for a problem to become a crisis before addressing it.
  • You know how to ask the right questions, respectfully challenge existing processes, and turn complex regulatory or risk concerns into practical action.
  • You can move comfortably between the details and the bigger picture—whether you're reviewing a control concern, preparing for a regulatory examination, partnering with department leaders, evaluating an emerging risk, or communicating with senior leadership.
  • Most importantly, you understand that strong risk management requires partnership, communication, accountability, and sound judgment.

At First Service Bank, you'll be part of an organization where your expertise can make a real impact. As our Director of Risk Management, you'll have the opportunity to work across the Bank, collaborate with leaders throughout the organization, and help shape how we manage risk as we continue to grow.
