CHAOS Industries is redefining modern defense with a multi-product portfolio that gives the ultimate advantage—domain dominance. The company's products are powered by Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN™), empowering warfighters, commercial air operators, and border protection teams to act faster, adapt rapidly, and stay ahead of evolving threats.

CHAOS Industries was founded in 2022 and has raised a total of $1 billion in funding from leading investors, including 8VC, Accel, and Valor Equity Partners. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, and London. For more information, please visit www.chaosinc.com.

The CHAOS Marketing team is looking for a Digital Content and Social Media Manager to own and grow our website and have an organic social presence building a distinctive voice for a next-gen defense brand across LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram and other relevant platforms. This is a hands-on role for a storyteller who's ready to translate product launches, press releases, events, and company milestones into content that builds credibility with government, defense, and industry audiences.

You'll partner closely with the Marketing, Design and Communications teams to keep digital content output timely, on-brand, and consistent.

Responsibilities

  • Define and articulate our competitive differentiation and position within the defense and aerospace market. Translate that positioning into an effective website content strategy, messaging framework, and site architecture.
  • Refresh existing website content and develop new material that advances our brand positioning and business priorities.
  • Increase content visibility across traditional search, answer engines, and generative AI platforms through SEO, AEO, and GEO best practices.
  • Establish and uphold editorial standards by reviewing content from contributors across the organization for quality, consistency, and brand alignment.
  • Build and lead a community of practice that equips contributors, strengthens internal capabilities, and ensures the website remains an effective marketing and communications channel.
  • Regularly analyze website performance and independently recommend improvements to user journeys, audience experience, traffic, engagement, and overall effectiveness.
  • Own the social media strategy and calendar across all social media platforms, aligned to company milestones, product launches, and events.
  • Create and adapt content for social — repurposing press coverage, executive commentary, product content, and event moments into platform-native posts.
  • Manage day-to-day publishing, community engagement, and monitoring across CHAOS's social channels.
  • Partner with MarCom teams to brief and produce social-specific assets (graphics, short-form video, carousels).
  • Coordinate social coverage and real-time content capture at major events, trade shows, and product launches.
  • Track and report on social performance (engagement, reach, follower growth, share of voice) and use data to refine strategy over time.
  • Monitor relevant industry, competitor, and press conversation to identify timely opportunities for CHAOS to engage or comment.
  • Partner with Communications to amplify press hits and coordinate messaging around sensitive announcements.
  • Monitor follower engagement and the broader web for reputational risks, resolving or escalating issues as needed.
  • Ensure all social content clears the appropriate internal review for government-sensitivity and export control requirements before publishing.

Requirements

~1 min read
  • Bachelor's degree in mass communication, marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or English.
  • 3-6 years of digital content and/or social media management experience, ideally including B2B, government-facing, defense, or other regulated-industry brands.
  • A strong track record of growing and engaging an audience on LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram specifically, not just general social familiarity.
  • Excellent writing skills and a sharp eye for what makes content land with a technical/executive/government audience versus a consumer one.
  • Comfortable working with sensitive information and following a review process before publishing — judgment matters as much as speed here.
  • Experience turning press coverage, executive commentary, and event content into a steady cadence of organic social content.
  • Basic proficiency with social scheduling/analytics tools.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership — able to build and run the social function largely on your own in the early months.
  • Based in the Washington, D.C. area.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, government contracting, or other regulated industries.
  • Basic graphic design or short-form video editing skills.
  • Experience supporting executive thought leadership/personal brand on social.
  • Prior experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup.
  • Health Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision benefits 100% paid for by the company
  • Additional benefits: 401k (+ 50% company match up to 6% of pay), FSA, HSA, life insurance, and more
  • Our Perks: Free daily lunch while you're working onsite, fully-stocked kitchen, unlimited PTO, casual dress code
  • Compensation Components: Competitive base salaries, generous pre-IPO stock option grants, relocation assistance, and (coming soon!) annual bonuses
  • Team Growth: 500+ employees and counting across 5 global offices
SALARY: $100,000 - $140,000

The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. If your compensation requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
