Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is a leader in aerospace and defense technologies, delivering intelligent solutions that redefine the future of aviation. Our Digital Technology (DT) organization enables business transformation by providing secure, scalable, and innovative digital solutions that support our global operations, customers, and suppliers.

Join our Digital Technology team and play a key role in driving digital transformation across our global Supply Chain organization while collaborating with talented professionals around the world.

We are looking for a Senior Principal Engineer to lead and mature our Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capability. The role owns the end-to-end system model, from requirements through architecture to simulation-based verification, using Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML.

You will define modeling methodology, guide project teams, and connect the system model with multi-domain simulation (MATLAB/Simulink) and the wider digital thread, enabling traceable, reusable and product-line-ready engineering.

Responsibilities

~2 min read
  • →Lead requirements modeling and architecture modeling (structure, behavior, interfaces, allocation) for complex multi-domain systems in Cameo and SysML.
  • →Define and govern MBSE methodology, modeling standards, profiles, patterns and reusable libraries across programs.
  • →Develop and maintain the full set of SysML views in Cameo: Requirement, Block Definition, Internal Block, Parametric, Package, Activity, Sequence, State Machine and Use Case diagrams.
  • →Integrate and co-simulate Cameo models with MATLAB/Simulink to validate requirements and establish bidirectional requirements traceability and linkage between system models and simulation models.
  • →Establish and drive product line engineering practices: variability modeling, feature models, configuration of product variants and reuse of model assets.
  • →Contribute to the digital thread by linking MBSE artifacts with PLM, ALM, simulation and test data so that traceability is maintained across the lifecycle.
  • →Perform trade studies, impact analysis, verification and validation planning, and design reviews using the system model as the single source of truth.
  • →Mentor and coach engineers, run MBSE training and workshops, and act as technical authority in reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
  • →Evaluate emerging standards and tools (including SysML v2 and its API) and recommend adoption of roadmaps.
  • →Define guidelines for the safe, governed use of AI/GenAI in MBSE (requirements quality checks, model generation and review, traceability, model debugging), with human validation of every AI output.
  • →Technology proposal preparation and funding opportunity exploration, leading efforts in innovation, filling invention disclosure, external paper publication, productivity savings through automation, models.

  • →Aerospace architecture requirements: You will gain depth in the emerging system architecture needs of aerospace systems and learn how to capture and model them in a way that is traceable, verifiable and reusable across programs. You will develop the methods that can be easily adaptable in other business unit and mature the same before handing it over the business unit.
  • →Innovation beyond project delivery: Alongside your regular project execution, you will get exposure to proposal development, business development opportunities and invention disclosures, learning how to turn technical ideas into funded work and protectable intellectual property.
  • →Mentoring and coaching: You will learn to coach, train and guide young engineers in MBSE methods and tools, building the skills to grow technical talent, run workshops and set modeling standards for a team.
  • →Technical leadership: You will learn to act as a technical authority, influencing design decisions and stakeholders across disciplines and programs.
