Senior Systems Engineer
Quick Summary
backup, disaster recovery, and failover that gets tested, not just documented. Be the Tier 3 escalation for the hardest problems, the ones that cross network, server, identity, and cloud,
routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, and site-to-site connectivity. You can read a packet capture and find the problem.

753 people. Offices in 19 countries. One blue-and-yellow can sold in more than 176. WD-40 Company runs a global business with a lean team, which means the systems behind it can't afford to be fragile, and the engineer who shapes them can't hide behind a ticket queue.
This is the senior technical voice on how our infrastructure is built and kept running: servers, Azure and M365, network, identity, endpoints, and recovery. We're moving more of the business to cloud and SaaS, and AI tools are starting to sit on top of all of it. You'll decide what that foundation looks like, and you'll be the one called when something breaks that nobody else can explain.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →network, identity, endpoints) and design what comes next instead of patching what's there.
- →Own reliability for systems used in every time zone we operate in: backup, disaster recovery, and failover that gets tested, not just documented.
- →Be the Tier 3 escalation for the hardest problems, the ones that cross network, server, identity, and cloud, and fix the root cause so they don't come back.
- →Automate the repetitive work (provisioning, configuration, patching, monitoring) so the team spends its time improving the environment rather than babysitting it.
- →Lead the technical side of migrations, upgrades, and new platform rollouts, including the infrastructure and access controls behind the AI tools the business is adopting.
- →Partner with Cybersecurity on hardening and access, and explain risks and trade-offs to non-technical leaders in plain language.
Requirements
~1 min read- 10+ years in infrastructure and systems engineering in a multi-site environment, ideally supporting global operations.
- Deep, hands-on Microsoft experience across Azure, M365, identity, and endpoint management in a hybrid on-premises and cloud setup.
- Real networking depth: routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, and site-to-site connectivity. You can read a packet capture and find the problem.
- A track record of building standards other people rely on: hardened builds, golden images, cloud landing zones, infrastructure-as-code.
- Backup, DR, and high-availability work where you ran the recovery tests yourself.
- The judgment to know when to follow a standard, when to push for an exception, and when to escalate, plus the patience to mentor the engineers and Service Desk staff around you.
- Degree or equivalent experience; current technical certifications are a plus.
