This position leads claim evaluation, analysis, and adjudication in compliance with state and federal laws while providing timely and accurate service to clients. As a subject matter expert, the incumbent takes lead on high profile, complex cases and provides guidance to entry level associates and peers. This is an individual contributor role, and not a role which manages other associates.

This position is remote (within the U.S.A.) and does not require regular in-office presence.

What you do:

Evaluates and authorizes disposition of the majority of complex claims.
Analyzes and recommends disposition of contestable and complex claims where liability is questionable, with limits up to $850,000.
Initiates and manages claim investigations, and coordinates field and external investigations.
Consults and requests formal written opinions from Legal and Medical/Underwriting departments.
Makes advanced independent decisions using judgement and experience.
Composes advanced written and oral communication that may be subject to litigation.
Assists with recoveries from reinsurance carriers.
Performs all claims processing support functions including assisting with training for new and entry level associates.

What you bring:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
4-7+ years of life insurance or life claims experience required.
