Financial Manager CA(SA)

Leading core accounting, financial reporting, and treasury functions within an established insurance group, this 3 to 6-month contract position drives daily operational finance integrity. The role provides direct exposure to IFRS accounting, investment reporting, and the active design and automation of internal financial controls. Focus is on steering month-end and year-end close cycles, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, and overseeing the preparation of divisional budgets, forecasts, and Annual Financial Statements. In addition to managing daily treasury allocations, this position acts as a key liaison for internal and external audit engagements and supports investment committee reporting deliverables. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the successful incumbent will monitor internal control applications, resolve control deficiencies, and lead ad-hoc finance initiatives during a critical contract period. Key Responsibilities Treasury & Cash Management: Oversee and execute daily cash and treasury management operations. Financial Close Management: Plan and manage strict month-end and year-end accounting deadlines. Journal & Ledger Review: Review monthly journals across salaries, provisions, accruals, and investment transactions. Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Direct the review and balance sheet management of monthly reconciliations. Budgeting & Variance Analysis: Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets, manage costs, and prepare divisional budgets and rolling forecasts. Financial Reporting & Governance: Prepare statutory Annual Financial Statements and compile monthly investment committee reporting. Audit Liaison: Coordinate information flows and liaise directly with internal and external auditors. Internal Financial Controls: Oversee internal financial control application, evaluate control design, monitor deficiencies, and automate and document internal processes. Team Guidance & Executive Support: Supervise, mentor, and develop finance team members while providing strategic and operational support to the Head of Finance. Requirements Essential Requirements Professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant South Africa – CA(SA). Minimum of 5+ years of post-articles professional work experience. Up-to-date, strong technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Proven competence with Microsoft Excel, specifically utilizing pivot tables and advanced functions. Demonstrated experience with CaseView/CaseWare Strong technical accounting expertise paired with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders across all company levels. Availability to work full-time on-site for the duration of the 3 to 6-month contract. Desirable Requirements Previous working knowledge or exposure within the insurance industry.
