THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you a program leader ready to shape how AI-native engineering actually ships at scale? The Adobe engineering organization is rewriting how complex, ambiguous programs move from strategy to delivery, and is looking for a Principal Engineering Program Manager to build the operating models teams run on. This role sits at the intersection of technical judgment, cross-functional influence, and organizational design. You'll build the systems that let engineering leaders move fast without losing control.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Principal Engineering Program Manager, you will operate across team, organizational, and stakeholder boundaries. You will define how initiatives are scoped, sequenced, and delivered, and build the shared frameworks that enable repeatable execution over time.
- Drive delivery of complex, cross-functional programs from design through release, influencing progress across teams
- Build project plans, schedules, budgets, and status models that remain reliable as scope and priorities evolve
- Identify and prioritize resources, define roles and decision rights, and remove the barriers to execution
- Establish accountability structures, reporting cadences, risk, and escalation paths that scale independently
- Partner closely with Leadership, providing support while constructively challenging plans, timelines, and assumptions
- Translate program health into the right altitude for each audience, from engineers to senior leadership
- Select, develop, and evaluate program talent to build high-performing teams and organizational alignment
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Proven experience managing complex engineering programs and leading cross-functional teams
- Strong critical thinking with the ability to connect day-to-day program mechanics to the broader strategy
- Track record of partnering effectively with senior leaders, providing support while holding teams accountable
- Operational rigor and the ability to bring structure and clarity to efforts that do not yet have a defined shape
- Excellent communication skills, with the judgment to tailor complex information appropriately for different audiences
- Self-directed: defines own work and drives complex, ambiguous goals to closure
- Discretion and maturity in handling sensitive or high-stakes situations
