Furniture Shop Supervisor - CTR

This position will have 4 areas of responsibility:

· Wood Shop

· Metal Shop

· Student Training and

· Safety

The Furniture Shop Supervisor will work directly with the technicians, both guiding and teaching them, and is expected to have a higher level of understanding of cabinet making principles, carpentry skills and safe use of tools. The Furniture Shop Supervisor is expected to have a better understanding of the Amity Community learned through time spent in the entry level position (Furniture Shop Technician) or, as a new hire, a greater level of carpentry-based knowledge.

· Supervises and directs Lead-Techs daily in manufacturing finished carpentry and furniture.

· Oversee daily activities in both the wood and welding shops to ensure efficiency

in the production of furniture, custom cabinetry, and ornamental ironwork.

· Supervise Furniture Shop Employees and Students.

· Supervise furniture production and shipping.

· Inspect finished wood and metal products to ensure they meet strict design

specifications and premium aesthetic quality standards.

· Supervise purchasing and inventory of materials and supplies.

· Develop and maintain inventory of all tools and equipment.

· Manage the upkeep, calibration, and repair of all shop machinery, tooling, and welding equipment.

· Supervise Safety training of authorized personnel on the use of all equipment and tools.

· Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing OSHA regulations, PPE compliance, and machine guarding.

· Train, mentor, and schedule fabrication technicians, welders, and woodworkers.

· Build and maintain relationships with vendors, and end users/customers.

· Develop and maintain vendor contact list.

· Comfortable with creating and using spreadsheets

· Securing supplies and materials to complete manufacturing projects

· Work directly with our management team to provide strategic direction for facilities needs and future growth plans

· Attends workshops, meetings, and training as requested by Furniture Shop Manager.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Status: Full Time, Accrual Level FT1 Revised: 9-14-26

Required:

· High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) or equivalent training or work experience

· Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or shop environment.

Required:

· Current valid CPR and First Aid certification.

· Current valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle for the occasional material transport or site visits.

· Welding Certification: Must hold a valid AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel Certification.

Physical Requirements:

· The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

· Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time.

· Frequently required to perform physical work for extended periods of time.

· Frequently required to reach, walk, climb, pull, push, grasp, stretch, and stoop.

· Frequently required talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions.

· Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form.

· Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.

· Required to wear location appropriate clothing

· Ability to change direction as priorities shift.

· Ability to thrive in environments that require the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

· Ability to cope with occasionally difficult or temperamental students and faculty.

· Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position.

· Generally, in an indoor setting but may work outdoors.

· Works in outdoor elements such as heat, precipitation and wind.

· Will be working with commercial equipment and tools powered and non-powered.

· The noise level in the work environment is moderate loud to loud (70-90 dB).

· The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate to cool but can be cold.

· May travel locally as needed.
