Ampd Energy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of Ampd’s lithium-ion battery based Energy Storage systems. You will work closely with the team responsible for designing, prototyping and manufacturing all the mechanical engineering aspects for Ampd’s product offerings. The scope of the work will be broad and varied, covering occasional CAD design, thermal/structural simulation, prototyping, and working with the company’s supply chain to manufacture components and subsystems.
Proactively lead and manage technical engagements with ODM partners throughout the product development lifecycle.
Own the definition, documentation, and rigorous verification of mechanical design requirements to ensure compliance with product performance, safety, and reliability standards.
Conduct thorough technical reviews and validation of ODM design submissions (models, drawings, BOMs) to ensure they meet internal specifications before finalizing prototypes.
Drive the verification process by establishing clear acceptance criteria, overseeing testing cycles, and documenting results to ensure design maturity and readiness for mass production.
Act as the primary technical point of contact to resolve design discrepancies, address technical risks, and ensure alignment between ODM outputs and internal engineering goals.
Conducting FEA and CFD simulations to verify design at early stages of development to speed up product development.
Designing, executing and recording physical experiments on Ampd’s products
Interfacing with ODM design teams to ensure complete electrical and mechanical outcomes meet product requirements
Reviewing existing literature and prior art for functional solutions to design issues
Working with the company’s existing mechanical, electrical, software, quality and supply chain teams to develop detailed specifications, bill-of-materials and requirements for a new part, box-build and/or specific subsystems, to send to vendors as part of an RFP package or NPI processes.
Collaborating with our service and quality teams to diagnose and address manufacturing quality issues (e.g. out-of-spec or component defects leading to low yields, implementing new or improving existing quality gates etc.)
Work with fire safety systems providers to optimize and evaluate detection and fire suppression for BESS
RCA of Service defects and deploying instant solutions to reduce service cost bleed.
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline;
Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a relevant engineering role;
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the capacity to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment;
Technical expertise in the design and optimization of liquid cooling systems;
Direct experience with the mechanical architecture of Containerized BESS solutions;
Proficiency in utilizing Adobe Illustrator for the generation of technical labels and product artwork.
