A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc., (AMT) an employee-owned consultant engineering firm, Engineering News Record Top 500 firm and a Zweig White Hot Firm, provides multidisciplinary services including engineering, environmental, landscape architecture, surveying and construction administration and inspection.
 
AMT is growing and is seeking a highly motivated Water Resources Project Manager to lead water resources design a projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The ideal candidate should understand hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, permitting, and the design implementation process necessary to take small and large projects from concept through construction.  
 
The Water Resources Project Manager will manage AMT engineers and scientists, interface directly with clients and be responsible for task and budget management. This position will involve field and office work primarily in Maryland and Virginia, evaluating existing conditions, conducting functional assessments, developing restoration design solutions, preparing construction documents, obtaining permits, and overseeing environmental construction.

  • Support environmental restoration design projects including but not limited to stream, wetland, and shoreline projects
  • Develop construction plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Develop reports in support of assessment, design, permitting, and monitoring efforts
  • Perform field work including but not limited to geomorphic assessment, natural resource inventories, and watershed inventories and assessments
  • Communicate and collaborate with the project team and clients
  • 10+ years of experience including Management of a team
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology or Hydrogeomorphology.
  • Hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology and stream design experience.
  • PE or other license preferred but not required.
  • Geomorphologic, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling capabilities related to stream, wetland,  stormwater, and floodplains.
  • Rosgen or other stream assessment and design training.
  • Natural stream channel and wetland creation design experience.
  • Experience developing task proposals, labor estimates, and pursuit of new projects.
  • Ability to prepare engineering design plans, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Ability to prepare engineering studies and reports.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and delegate tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and ArcGIS software.
  • Communication skills to provide assistance with supervising engineering work and client care
