Apex is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to join our Thousand Oaks, CA office.
The Senior Technical Project Manager (PM) will lead and manage complex environmental investigation, remediation, and compliance projects involving contamination in soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, surface water, and other environmental media. The role requires strong technical leadership, client management, project delivery, staff development, and business development capabilities. Experience with industrial, manufacturing, petroleum, government, and brownfield remediation programs is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Manage large-scale environmental investigation, remediation, and compliance projects from proposal through closure.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, work plans, and health and safety plans.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of geologists, engineers, hydrogeologists, risk assessors, and environmental scientists.
- Monitor project financial performance, including revenue, profitability, utilization, and forecasting.
- Coordinate subcontractors, laboratories, drilling contractors, and remediation vendors.
- Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards.
- Serve as a technical lead for sites impacted by a range of chemical and petroleum-related contaminants in soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, surface water, and other environmental media.
- Design and oversee:
- Site investigations and environmental assessments
- Soil and groundwater characterization
- Soil vapor and vapor intrusion assessments
- Human health and ecological risk assessments
- Remedial investigations/feasibility studies (RI/FS)
- Corrective action and site closure programs
- Evaluate and implement appropriate remediation approaches and technologies based on site conditions, regulatory requirements, and project objectives.
- Interpret environmental data, evaluate remedial alternatives, and develop practical recommendations for investigation, remediation, and long-term site management.
- Act as primary client contact for key accounts.
- Support strategic planning with industrial, manufacturing, petroleum, commercial, and government clients.
- Prepare and present technical findings to clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Maintain long-term client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional services.
- Lead proposal preparation and pricing.
- Support capture planning and opportunity pursuit.
- Identify new clients and expand existing accounts.
- Participate in industry organizations and conferences.
Demonstrated experience working with:
- EPA CERCLA/Superfund programs
- RCRA Corrective Action
- State cleanup and voluntary remediation programs
- Vapor intrusion guidance
- UST and industrial facility closure programs
- Applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations
Requirements
~1 min read- BS in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Hydrogeology, Geology, or related field.
- 12+ years of environmental consulting experience.
- 7+ years managing complex environmental investigation and remediation projects.
- Demonstrated success managing projects exceeding $500K to $5M+ annually.
- Significant experience with environmental investigation, remediation, and regulatory compliance involving contaminated soil, groundwater, and other environmental media.
- Professional certifications such as PE, PG, CHG, PMP, REM, or CHMM preferred.
