We have an immediate opening for a Lead Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Lead Maintenance Technician is accountable for results within the Mechanical Utilities Department (MUC) in Environment, Health and Safety, Productivity, Asset Management, People Development, Contracting Out, Cost Control and Quality using ABS (Arconic Business System) tools such as TPM, Kaizen, Daily Management, 5S, etc.
These objectives will be achieved without sacrificing a spirit of cooperation with other areas, so as to not detrimentally impact the vitality of Davenport Works. The Lead Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Superintendent- MUC and provide direct supervision to up to four supervisors and indirect supervision to 100+ hourly craft employees. The hourly employees will consist of general mechanics, electricians, carpenter painters, and facilities maintenance operators.
In this role you will:
- Drive team maturity through direct reports.
- Ensure specialist roles are effective and filled.
- Identification and coordination of upskilling activities in crafts to close gaps in knowledge sets of the maintenance resources including lead operators and equipment coordinators.
- Ensure trainee programs are effective and the curriculum is followed.
- Lead problem solving activities to increase productivity, reduce errors in work performance and procedures and improve equipment reliability.
- Develop and execute a plan to deliver world class reliability and performance of the equipment in each of the shops.
- Support the MUC Superintendent to meet the department’s annual objectives as needed.
- Assist the Central Maintenance Manager in development and implementation of plant wide Maintenance systems, processes and resource management across all Maintenance Areas.
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment
• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing maintenance activities or leading planning and implementation of equipment evaluation and improvements
• This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience of work-related experience managing maintenance activities or leading planning and implementation of equipment activities
• Knowledge of and experience implementing Lean Manufacturing Systems tools in a maintenance environment
• This is not a shift work position. Must be available 24/7 or as needed to ensure business needs.
• Expert technical knowledge of processes necessary to drive maintenance performance excellence in a manufacturing setting
• Expert knowledge of EHS procedures, rules and regulations pertaining to maintenance
