Arconic is currently in search of Mechanical Engineer to join our team based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  
 
As Lancaster Mill continues to grow and invest in its operations, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help drive our next phase of success. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex equipment challenges, leading capital projects, and partnering with operations teams to improve safety, reliability, and manufacturing performance. 
 

In this role, you will provide engineering support across the mill, working closely with Production, Maintenance, and Leadership teams to improve mechanical systems, optimize equipment performance, and execute high-impact projects. From troubleshooting critical equipment issues to leading major capital installations, you will play a key role in helping the mill achieve its business objectives and long-term growth plans.

In this role, you will:
  • Mechanical Engineering & Operational Support
    • Serve as a key engineering resource for mechanical equipment, systems, and manufacturing processes throughout the mill.
    • Partner with Production, Maintenance, Technical, and Administrative teams to safely achieve operational goals and business objectives.
    • Provide engineering expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve equipment and process-related issues.
    • Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause investigations to improve equipment reliability and performance.
    • Evaluate opportunities for process optimization, equipment upgrades, and operational improvements.
    • Support reliability, safety, quality, and productivity initiatives through sound engineering practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Collaborate with internal and external technical resources to implement industry best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Capital Planning & Budget Development
    • Participate in the annual development of the plant's three-year capital and major maintenance budget.
    • Identify opportunities for equipment replacements, facility improvements, capacity enhancements, and process optimization projects.
    • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and business justifications.
    • Solicit vendor quotes and prepare project descriptions for capital approval and budgeting purposes.
    • Support strategic investments that improve operational performance and support the mill's continued growth.
  • Project Development & Preparation
    • Develop and lead cross-functional project teams consisting of operations, maintenance, engineering, and technical personnel.
    • Create detailed project specifications and comprehensive scopes of work.

 

Also note:
  • Depending on your experience, technical strengths, and career interest, you may have the opportunity to join either our Hot Rolling Department or our Engineering Department focused on capital projects
You have: (required) 
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited institution
  • 0 to 12+ years of relevant engineering experience *Position level (Associate, Senior, Staff, etc.) will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience, skills, and qualifications
  • 1 to 10 years of Project Engineering/Project Management experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

 

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work hands-on alongside both production and maintenance employees including with troubleshooting and repairing equipment
  • Knowledge of Process Management and VPM
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be results oriented
  • Demonstrates computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Demonstrates strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization
  • Proficient with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Able to work flexible hours as required
