The position was mainly established to support the needs of our Robotics & Automations Department. The Automations Engineer is responsible for the technical preparation, design and maintenance of automation systems at the technical base, as well as for providing field support, commissioning and troubleshooting during company projects. The role includes supporting automation activities in the field and onboard vessels, ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of automation and control systems.

Responsibilities

    • Programming, configuring, and testing PLC systems and SCADA / HMI applications (Siemens environment); 
    • Troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving technical issues in electrical systems and control automation;
    • Understanding, reading, and updating/modifying electrical schematics using Eplan;
    • Utilizing SAP for inventory/stock management, material requisitions/orders, and coordinating equipment logistics;
    • Reviewing, preparing, and managing spare parts lists and inventory for PLC and automation systems; 
    • Configuring and validating industrial communication protocols and networks;
    • Remote & Field Technical Support: Providing remote technical support for automation equipment from the base, alongside on-site presence for field activities (installation, commissioning, emergency troubleshooting), which may occasionally include work onboard vessels (estimated total travel time ~30 days per year). 

    • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electrical, Automation, Electronics Engineering, or related engineering discipline;
    • 1–3 years of professional experience in industrial automation, electrical installations, or control system maintenance;
    • Experience in programming and troubleshooting PLC systems and HMI panels within Siemens TIA Portal; 
    • Knowledge and proficiency in reading, understanding, and modifying electrical schematics in EPLAN;
    • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Modbus, TCP/IP, RS485/232);
    • Hands-on proficiency with basic electrical tools and testing instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, hand tools);  
    • Fluent command of the English language (both written and spoken);
    • Willingness and ability to travel for field and onboard/offshore operations;
    • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with a methodical, analytical and problem-solving approach;
    • Strong sense of ownership, willingness to continuously learn and develop, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to dynamic field environments, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with SAP.  
  • Experience with SCADA applications (Siemens WinCC Unified or WinCC V7.x / V8.x).  
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives / Inverters (VFDs, ideally Siemens SINAMICS).  
  • Familiarity with marine and subsea equipment technology.
