Electrical Maintenance Technician Apprentice

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Electrical Maintenance Technician Apprentice to join our maintenance team. This position provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced electricians. Electrical Maintenance Technicians and other maintenance professionals to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment in a manufacturing environment.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician Apprentice will develop practical skills in industrial electrical systems while following applicable safety procedures, electrical codes, company standards, and apprenticeship requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in building a long-term career as an Electrical Maintenance Technicians.

• Assist Electrical Maintenance Technicians with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and systems throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Perform electrical work under the direction and supervision of qualified Electrical Maintenance Technicians or other authorized personnel.
• Assist with troubleshooting electrical problems involving manufacturing equipment, motors, control circuits, sensors, switches, and related components.
• Install and maintain conduit, wiring, electrical panels, disconnects, junction boxes, lighting, receptacles, and other electrical components.
• Assist with testing circuits and electrical components using appropriate meters and testing equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Learn the fundamentals of industrial motor controls, including contactors, relays, motor starters, overloads, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Gain exposure to programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial controls, and automated manufacturing equipment as applicable.
• Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment and facility electrical systems.
• Identify worn, damaged, or unsafe electrical components and report findings to the appropriate Electrical Maintenance Technicians or supervisor.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, PPE, and other company safety procedures at all times.
• Maintain tools, equipment, electrical parts, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and work performed as required.
• Participate in apprenticeship classroom instruction, technical training, and on-the-job learning as required.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist maintenance personnel in restoring production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Work cooperatively with production, maintenance, engineering, and other departments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass Ramsay Pre-Apprentice Test

Preferred Requirements:

• Vocational HS degree in Electrical Maintenance or related field.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles.
• Previous manufacturing, industrial maintenance, construction, electrical, or mechanical experience.

• Ability and willingness to learn electrical troubleshooting and industrial maintenance practices.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other maintenance equipment after appropriate training.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, safety procedures, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to complete required classroom instruction and on-the-job training.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in various positions.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work from approved elevated work platforms as required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance or lifting equipment used when appropriate.
• Ability to work around operating manufacturing equipment and in areas where noise, heat, dust, oils, or other typical industrial conditions may be present.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
