    • Serve as the subject matter expert for power systems, generator integration, and electrical controls.
    • Define and approve electrical system architectures for modular and scalable power plants.
    • Provide final technical authority for generator control and interconnection strategies.
    • Lead advanced power system studies and protection philosophies.
    • Author, approve, and maintain corporate electrical standards, specifications, and design guidelines.
    • Lead and approve complex construction drawing packages and engineering deliverables.
    • Support long-range technical planning and CAPEX strategy.
    • Lead high-risk commissioning, troubleshooting, and failure investigations, driving issues to root cause and corrective action.
    • Interface with utilities, authorities having jurisdiction, third-party engineers, and owners’ engineers.
    • Participate in executive-level safety and technical risk reviews.
    • Mentor Senior Electrical Engineers and guide technical development across teams.
    • Comply with all Atlas Energy Solutions safety policies, procedures, and site requirements, including NFPA 70E and energy isolation lockout/tagout (LOTO), when working in shop and field environments.
    • Handle confidential and proprietary information with professionalism and integrity.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
    • Directly related experience may substitute for education
    • 10–15+ years of experience in power systems engineering, generation, or utility-scale electrical design
    • Demonstrated leadership in electrical system architecture, generator control and integration, and construction documentation standards
    • Demonstrated experience authoring and enforcing engineering standards, specifications, or design guidelines
    • Experience leading power system studies and defining protection philosophies
    • Proven ability to resolve complex technical challenges and lead failure investigations to root cause
    • Experience mentoring and developing engineers
    • Expert technical writing and documentation capability
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to represent Atlas to utilities, authorities having jurisdiction, third-party engineers, and executive leadership
    • Ability to travel to the Atlas corporate office, project field sites, fabrication shops, and customer locations
    • Valid Driver’s License
  • Preferred:
    • Professional Engineering License in TX, NM, WY, or CO, or actively working toward licensure
    • Expert-level experience with ETAP or SKM Power Tools
    • Extensive experience developing and enforcing electrical standards and specifications
    • Experience serving as Engineer of Record or supporting stamped designs
    • Experience interfacing with utilities and regulatory authorities
    • Experience with distributed generation, microgrid, islanded, black start, or behind-the-meter power systems
    • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or inverter-based resources
  • Location: Austin TX (Remote)
  • Work Environment: Remote office, with travel to the Atlas corporate office, project field sites, fabrication shops, and customer locations
  • Travel %: 25%

Schedule/Work Arrangement: Fully remote; Monday through Friday, standard business hours, with flexibility to support project, commissioning, and incident response needs

  • Reports To: Director of Electrical Engineering
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility but may provide mentorship, guidance, training, or work direction to others
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis
    • Position requires site visits in office, shop, outdoor, and industrial field environments, including areas with uneven surfaces and potential exposure to slips, trips, falls, and other common site hazards
    • Must be able to walk job sites, climb stairs and ladders as needed, stand for extended periods, and perform field inspections and measurements
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and work in or around active construction, fabrication, or operating environments while complying with all applicable safety requirements
    • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including arc-rated clothing, when working in or around energized equipment
    • Must be able to travel by air and vehicle to corporate, project, shop, and customer locations
