Lead Pharmacy Technician

The Lead Pharmacy Technician performs under pharmacist supervision, a variety of technical duties related to the preparing and dispensing of drugs according to standard procedures. They serve as the department’s subject matter expert in all Pharmacy Technician duties, roles, and responsibilities. Additionally, the Lead Pharmacy Technician ensures accountability for daily Pharmacy Technician activities and resolves operational problems; serves as a point of contact for key stake holders; fosters and develops the Pharmacy Technician team; coordinates and provides hands-on Pharmacy Technician training; and manages the Pharmacy Technician schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Prior experience as a hospital pharmacy technician
• Experience with use of office software computer applications and keyboarding

• National Certification preferred

• Effectively reads, writes, speaks, and understands English; possesses strong telephone, verbal, and written communication skills
• Demonstrates leadership ability
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills; able to troubleshoot technical problems and suggest solutions
• Able to work independently and in a team environment
• Able to work in a busy environment while staying organized and demonstrating attention to detail
• Must be comfortable using e-mail and office software applications
• Able to apply math skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system.
