Maintenance Technician

Seastar Chemicals ULC, a division of Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company, is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Technician for our Manufacturing Operations organization.

This Sidney, British Columbia CAN role is full-time on-site, Monday- Friday, standard working hours, requiring voluntary on-call time.

• Highschool diploma/ GED

• Maintenance, mechanical and/or electrical experience in an industrial or educational setting

• Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors; pneumatic equipment; conveyor systems; and production equipment.
• Following safety guidelines and procedures.
•  Following SOPs (standard operating procedures) diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
• Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies/ inventories using an advanced maintenance management system (AMMS).
• Assisting in troubleshooting, repairs and maintaining electrical and electronic circuitry; hydraulic systems, plumbing, valving, filters, tanks and pumps.
• Repairing and maintaining facilities and equipment.
• With equipment/facility maintenance.
• With power tools.  
• With machine set-up fundamentals.
• Working on gearboxes, agitators, and pumps.
• Repairing electrical/mechanical machinery.
• With electrical, pneumatics, PLC logic, plastic welding.

Avantor’s Manufacturing Operations organization’s capabilities provide a global footprint to accommodate life science applications in biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, diagnostics, and research, encompassing research and development to full-scale production.  The Sidney Manufacturing Facility focusses on:

• Propriety quality systems designed specifically to meet industry standards
• Manufacturing of high purity reagents

• Research and development for high-purity acid and semiconductor thin film deposition
• Delivering results against complex business and technology initiatives the flexible and self-motivated Maintenance Technician will:
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain accurate history logs for all machines for use in identifying and diagnosing problems.
• Strive to improve machine performance to minimize downtime through prior planning and quick thorough machine repairs.
• Provide mechanical support for all departments.
• Utilize business level written and oral communication skills.
• Utilize strong attention to detail.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
