Process Engineer

Most banking process roles are about stripping out human errors from manual paper trails. This role is completely different.

An established retail giant is launching a financial services wing from the ground up, with an internal launch set for October and a public go-live in April 2027. 

They are hiring a Business Process Engineer to serve as the design authority for their AI and automation architecture across conversational banking, contact centres, and back-office workflows. 

Design Authority: You are not just executing someone else's strategy. You will own the AI and automation solution designs from problem definition to measurable deployment. 

Cutting-Edge Stack: You get to design agentic AI solutions, defining prompt architectures, orchestration logic, and tool-use patterns rather than maintaining legacy infrastructure. 

High Autonomy: This division operates in a delivery-focused, execution-driven environment that gives you the space to operate independently without unnecessary red tape. 

Structured Hybrid Flexibility: A predictable routine of 3 days in the Somerset West office for collaborative journey mapping, and 2 days remote for focused technical design.

Map end-to-end client journeys across conversational banking channels (such as WhatsApp), self-service channels, and digital contact centers. 

Build and specify automation workflows that seamlessly integrate core banking systems, CRM platforms, and third-party tools. 

Identify and define Robotic Process Automation (RPA) opportunities within back-office operations to reduce cost-to-serve. 

Embed strict performance measurement frameworks to track containment rates, resolution times, and customer satisfaction metrics. 

Ensure all automated workflows strictly comply with FSCA, POPIA, and TCF regulatory frameworks. 

The Qualification: A completed degree in Industrial Engineering, Commerce, or a related field. 

Core Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience spanning process engineering, digital transformation, and customer experience design. 

The AI Specialisation: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of direct experience designing and implementing AI-driven solutions or RPA initiatives. 

Sector Familiarity: Prior experience within banking, fintech, retail, or heavily regulated environments. 

Language and Location: Full professional proficiency in both English and Afrikaans is required for this business context. You must live within a commutable distance of Somerset West.
