As our new HSE Manager, you will manage the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our local health, safety, and environmental activities. You will drive the corporate EHS agenda locally while ensuring full compliance with local Safety and Environmental regulations and introducing Safety improvement programs that contribute in achieving our Zero accident vision. This is a unique opportunity to manage all aspects of HSE and develop a strong safety culture across our two sites in Oslo, while participating in the safe ramp-up of our brand new, top-modern and advanced chemical production facility. The position reports to the Plant Manager and is a member of the Plant Leadership team. 

Responsibilities

  • →

    Performs periodic EHS inspections and compliance audits.

  • →

     Establishes and maintains up to date EHS procedures, SOP’s, job descriptions, and training requirements.

  • →

    Provides recommendations and assists plant management in improving safety and environmental procedures.

  • →

    Deploy and enhance Environmental Risks Management Programs, including initiatives and programs for controlling and mitigating air emissions, waste management and waste water.

  • →

    Ensures up to date emergency contingency plans, and SDS requirements are maintained.

  • →

    Manage and track behavior- based safety observation and deploy Corporate EHS Programs for addressing Critical High-Hazardous tasks.

  • →

    Assists plant management with process safety issues and conducting accident and incident investigation; establishes preventive measures to eliminate or reduce potential for reoccurrence.

    Reviews all capital projects and plant alterations to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS requirements.

  • →

    Prepares Environmental and Safety compliance reports as required by management, outside organizations regulatory and permits requirements.

  • →

    Ensures all permits are maintained appropriately.

  • →

    Works with outside safety organizations to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Serves as the primary contact responsible for assisting with EH&S audits.

    Perform other related duties.

    Approver for EHS impacting procedures and changes

  • →

    Works closely with our Occupational Health Service supplier to ensure health, safety and occupational health hazard risks are known and mitigated according to statutory requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience working in the EHS environment in the industrial sector, ideally in a chemical / pharma / food producer. Oil and Gas would also be considered.

  • University degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or other relevant subject and/or appropriate recognized professional HSSE qualifications or experience.

  • Strong understanding of Process Safety and Environmental Controls.

  • Alternative background in the Norwegian Armed Forces will be equally considered.

  • Broad knowledge of Norwegian and European Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety regulations

  • Strong leadership skills. Effective communication skills in Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language) and English.

  • Positive, proactive, energetic approach to EHS management.

  • Leads by example – is at the forefront of all EHS relevant work.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The ideal candidate should be able to establish credibility with colleagues and senior management, as well as be able to conduct employee safety training as required.

  • Good project management skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and manage complex operations, prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to foster effective working relations with a wide range of senior internal, client and external contacts  

  • Strong cultural awareness, understands how to be effective in a multinational organization.
