Sr. Azure DevOps and SRE Engineer

Berlin Packaging has been investing in technology across the enterprise, and our cloud platforms are central to how our customer-facing applications, APIs, and enterprise systems run, connect, and scale. As a Senior DevOps & Site Reliability Engineer, you will be hands-on at the center of that work. You will create the CI/CD pipelines and Terraform-based Azure platform behind our .NET, React, and Next.js frontends, Azure Static Web Apps, Azure API Management (APIM), and MuleSoft integrations, while keeping those platforms reliable, observable, secure, and performant in production.

You will work closely with onshore and offshore developers, architects, integration engineers, and security and infrastructure teams. You will bring deep technical expertise, raise engineering and operational standards, and own deliverables end-to-end. We are looking for someone with proven hands-on experience who can work with a high degree of autonomy from day one.

• Design and create Azure DevOps (ADO) CI/CD pipelines from scratch using multi-stage YAML. Build reusable templates, variable groups, service connections, environments, approvals and gates, and self-hosted and Microsoft-hosted agents.
• Create build and release pipelines for .NET / ASP.NET Core applications, React single-page applications, and Next.js applications, including static export, SSR/ISR, and hybrid rendering.
• Deploy and operate Azure Static Web Apps, including custom domains, PR staging environments, linked APIs and Azure Functions, authentication, routing, and configuration.
• Host Next.js SSR workloads on App Service, Container Apps, or AKS, with caching and edge delivery through Azure Front Door/CDN.
• Build and manage Azure infrastructure as code with Terraform, including reusable modules, remote state, environment promotion, drift detection, policy enforcement, and pipeline-driven deployments.
• Automate Azure API Management configuration and deployments, including APIs, policies, products, subscriptions, versions, and revisions using APIOps practices.
• Create DevOps pipelines for MuleSoft on CloudHub 2.0, including Maven builds, MUnit quality gates, Runtime Manager deployments, and API Manager policy automation.
• Build DevSecOps into every pipeline using SAST, SCA/dependency scanning, IaC scanning, container image scanning, secret management with Key Vault, managed identities, RBAC, and policy-as-code.
• Define branching, release, and deployment strategies such as trunk-based development, blue/green, canary, deployment slots, PR preview environments, and automated rollback.
• Establish build-once/promote-many practices and standardized promotion across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments.

• Use Generative AI and AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and approved enterprise AI platforms to accelerate DevOps, infrastructure, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation.
• Develop practical AI-assisted workflows for pipeline creation, Terraform development, YAML troubleshooting, log analysis, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and runbook generation.
• Explore and implement agentic DevOps capabilities that can analyze pipeline failures, summarize incidents, recommend remediation, and automate low-risk operational tasks with appropriate human approval.
• Use AI to improve developer experience, platform self-service, operational knowledge, and engineering productivity while maintaining security, privacy, governance, and human oversight.
• Apply prompt engineering, structured context, RAG/knowledge retrieval, and tool/API integration concepts where they improve enterprise DevOps workflows.
• Evaluate AI-generated code, infrastructure definitions, pipeline changes, and operational recommendations for correctness, security, compliance, and production readiness.

• Define and track SLIs and SLOs for frontend applications, APIM gateway, and MuleSoft APIs.
• Build observability with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics/KQL, and Anypoint Monitoring, including dashboards, distributed tracing, synthetic tests, and actionable alerts.
• Monitor and tune performance and availability for customer-facing web traffic, APIM throughput and latency, and integration flows, including Core Web Vitals and CDN caching.
• Lead incident response, participate in on-call, provide L2/L3 production support, and run blameless postmortems with tracked remediation.
• Drive high availability, disaster recovery, resilience, capacity planning, and performance engineering for frontend, APIM, and MuleSoft workloads.
• Reduce operational toil through automation, self-service tooling, runbooks, and AI-assisted operational workflows.
• Help manage and optimize cloud platform cost through resource governance, monitoring, rightsizing, and FinOps practices.
• Lead technical design, code reviews, pipeline and platform standards, and mentoring. Work with architects and application, integration, security, and business teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.

• 8+ years of DevOps, cloud infrastructure, SRE, platform engineering, or related experience, including 3+ years in production reliability/SRE responsibilities.
• Proven experience creating Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines end-to-end: multi-stage YAML, reusable templates, environments, approvals, gates, agents, service connections, artifacts, and deployment strategies.
• Strong Git experience with Azure Repos and/or GitHub; GitHub Actions experience is a plus.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying React and Next.js applications, including Node.js/npm/pnpm builds, static export, SSR/ISR, and hybrid rendering, plus .NET / ASP.NET Core web applications.
• Experience deploying and supporting Azure Static Web Apps.
• Advanced Terraform experience on Azure, including module design, state management, remote backends, workspaces, environment promotion, drift detection, and pipeline-driven deployments.
• Deep Azure experience with App Service, Static Web Apps, AKS/Container Apps, Functions, Front Door/CDN, Application Gateway/WAF, VNets/Private Endpoints, Key Vault, Entra ID, managed identities, RBAC, Azure Policy, and Azure Monitor.
• Working experience with Azure API Management deployments and configuration, including APIOps concepts.
• Hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform deployments, CloudHub 2.0, Maven-based CI/CD, MUnit, Runtime Manager, and API Manager.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices throughout CI/CD pipelines, including SAST, SCA, IaC, container, secret, and dependency scanning.
• Strong observability experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics/KQL, alerting, dashboarding, distributed tracing, and performance monitoring.
• Hands-on SRE practices including SLOs/SLIs, incident management, on-call, postmortems, capacity planning, resilience, and disaster recovery.
• Strong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python, plus solid knowledge of REST APIs, DNS, TLS/certificates, networking, HTTP, and authentication.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted development and operations tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or comparable enterprise AI tooling.
• Ability to apply AI responsibly to DevOps automation, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational workflows, with appropriate human review and security controls.

• DevOps, cloud, security, or AI certifications such as Microsoft AZ-400, AZ-500, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, CKA/CKS, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud/DevOps, GitHub Advanced Security, SonarQube, Snyk, Checkov/tfsec, Trivy, or comparable security tooling.
• Strong working knowledge of React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, npm/pnpm, and frontend build/runtime troubleshooting.
• Experience with Jest, Playwright/Cypress, Lighthouse CI, and automated quality/performance testing in pipelines.
• Experience with GitOps, Flux/Argo CD, Helm, Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS.
• Experience with Azure Load Testing, JMeter, k6, or comparable load/performance testing tools.
• Experience supporting high-traffic eCommerce platforms and web performance optimization.
• Experience with AI coding and DevOps tools including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Azure AI, or comparable tools.
• Understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, AI agents/agentic workflows, and tool/API integration patterns.
• Experience building AI-assisted or agentic automation for incident response, observability, CI/CD, infrastructure management, or developer productivity.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI/Azure AI Foundry or comparable enterprise AI platforms is a plus.
• Experience with FinOps, cloud cost optimization, policy-as-code, and platform governance.
