Chef

This is an on-site, contract Chef role based in Gauteng, South Africa. The Chef will be responsible for planning and preparing daily menus, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, according to client requirements and dietary needs. Daily tasks include sourcing and ordering ingredients, managing stock levels, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of food items. The Chef will cook and present meals to a high standard, maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, and adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations. The role also involves coordinating with other staff, managing time efficiently during service, and adjusting menus based on feedback, seasonality, and budget. Requirements Strong culinary skills, including menu planning, food preparation, and plating to consistent quality standards. Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and best practices in kitchen sanitation and storage. Experience working in a professional kitchen,, catering, or hospitality environment. Ability to manage inventory, control waste, and work within budget and portion guidelines. Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site setting. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work smoothly with clients, suppliers, and team members. Flexibility to adapt menus for dietary restrictions, cultural preferences, and special events. Culinary diploma, certification, or relevant training is preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
