Project Manager, FEHRM Healthcare Technology Management - Interoperability

The Interoperability Project Manager supports healthcare technology management (HTM) interface work associated with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Federal Electronic Health Record Modernization (FEHRM) program. This role coordinates simultaneous interface workstreams across multiple VA medical centers. The Project Manager works directly with national, regional, and site-level Biomedical Engineering and clinical teams, technical teams, Oracle Health, third-party vendors, and program management offices across the VA enterprise.

Successful candidates bring recent, practical experience with healthcare interfaces, medical device integration, HTM operations, or healthcare technology deployment, along with strong project coordination skills. They can participate in a technical discussion, recognize an open issue, ask questions to understand its workflow and milestone impacts, and communicate those impacts clearly to leadership.

*Travel associated with this role will consist of being away for about a week every 2 months*

• →Ability to coordinate interface planning, schedules, dependencies, testing, issue resolution, and deployment milestones across technical, vendor, and VA site teams in a large-scale program with multiple concurrent hospital systems.
• →Participate actively in interface and workflow discussions with Oracle Health, facility teams, and technical specialists. Ask focused questions to clarify requirements, ownership, open issues, and next steps.
• →Recognize when a technical or workflow issue may affect testing, deployment readiness, or another project milestone; document the impact and escalate concerns at the appropriate time.
• →Track decisions, risks, action items, and owners through resolution across multiple facilities and stakeholders.
• →Translate detailed interface discussions into accurate meeting documentation, status reports, executive summaries, and leadership briefings.
• →Coordinate follow-up among Biomedical Engineering, clinical staff, technical teams, vendors, and program stakeholders.
• →Support interface work throughout planning, testing, deployment, and post-deployment follow-up.
• →Work within applicable VHA processes, federal requirements, and healthcare technology practices.

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 5? (or should this be 3) years of relevant professional experience.
• Recent, practical experience with healthcare interfaces, medical device integration, hospital HTM operations, or healthcare systems implementation.
• Experience coordinating projects or complex work across technical, clinical, vendor, and leadership stakeholders.
• Working understanding of interface activities sufficient to follow technical discussions, identify unresolved questions, and recognize project or workflow impacts.
• Ability to ask useful technical follow-up questions, drive action items to resolution, and communicate issues clearly to technical teams and leadership.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience supporting VA or VHA operations or a multi-facility EHR deployment.
• Familiarity with Oracle Health Cerner Millennium or VA FEHRM.
• Familiarity with HL7 messaging or healthcare interface testing; expert-level HL7 proficiency is not required.
• Experience with medical device, imaging, laboratory, or other clinical system interfaces.
• Familiarity with applicable healthcare regulatory requirements and standards.
• Experience using tools, including AI-assisted tools, to improve documentation, analysis, or workflow efficiency.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal public trust clearance.
