Kitchen Manager

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Temporary Full-Time Lead Cook to join our team at the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana.

This position is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, has strong leadership skills, and is comfortable working in a structured correctional environment.

As a Kitchen Manager, you will help oversee daily kitchen operations while working directly with inmates assigned to the food service area. Responsibilities include:

• →Leading, directing, and assisting inmates within the kitchen
• →Leading and instructing kitchen staff and inmates during meal preparation
• →Assisting with food preparation, baking, cooking, and clean-up
• →Following company recipes and established food service procedures
• →Maintaining a safe, organized, and productive kitchen environment
• →Working effectively within a structured correctional setting
• →Performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds

Successful candidates should have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• The ability to work well in a structured correctional environment
• The ability to read and follow company recipes
• The ability to lead, instruct, and assist with kitchen and meal preparation duties
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• A dependable, positive, and professional attitude

• Temporary Full-Time position
• Must be flexible to work weekends and holidays
• Must be flexible to work varying days and hours
• Typical shift times fall between 8:30 AM and 6:30 PM
• Must receive clearance approval to enter the facility
