The Patient Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting patients to approved medical and essential social service appointments. This role involves direct interaction with patients and requires the ability to support accessible transportation needs, including assisting patients entering and exiting the vehicle when appropriate. The driver serves as a frontline representative of Central Health and must demonstrate professionalism, patience, sound judgment, and respect for patient dignity.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Safely transport patients to and from scheduled appointments in accordance with established routes and schedules
- Provide support for accessible transportation needs, including assisting patients with vehicle entry and exit as needed
- Secure and manage mobility or accessibility equipment in accordance with safety guidelines
- Interact with patients in a calm, respectful, and supportive manner Maintain accurate ride schedules, appointment details, and required documentation
- Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns
- Respond appropriately to delays, cancellations, refusals, and incidents in accordance with organizational protocols
- Operate assigned vehicles in accordance with organizational fleet standards and safe driving practices, including required inspections and reporting of vehicle issues or incidents.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times
- Coordinate with Support Operations, Fleet Management, and Clinical teams to ensure transportation services align with daily operational needs, including schedule changes, vehicle availability, and service continuity.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support patient transportation services, fleet operations, or departmental needs in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely and follow established transportation and safety procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in unexpected or stressful situations
Requirements
