EIS -Turnaround Group- Equipment Operator I

The Turnaround Equipment Operator I is responsible for executing industrial cleaning tasks during refinery, petrochemical, and terminal shutdowns (TARs/outages). This role performs hands-on work in support of hydroblasting, vacuum operations, tank cleaning, and related services under the direction of Crew Leader I/II and Equipment Operator II. The Equipment Operator Level I plays a key role in maintaining productivity, supporting safe operations, and meeting strict turnaround schedules in high-pressure environments.

• Perform industrial cleaning tasks including:
• High-pressure hydroblasting
• Vacuum truck support and material handling
• Tank cleaning and residue removal
• Heat exchanger, piping, and equipment cleaning
• Assist with equipment setup, operation, and teardown in accordance with job procedures.
• Handle hoses, lances, pumps, and associated tools safely and effectively.
• Follow work instructions to complete assigned tasks within designated timeframes.

• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and client site requirements.
• Participate in daily safety meetings, JSAs/JHAs, and toolbox talks.
• Properly use required PPE at all times.
• Adhere to critical safety procedures, including:
• Confined space entry
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
• Line breaking and pressure safety
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, or near misses immediately.

• Inspect tools, hoses, and equipment prior to use.
• Assist in maintaining proper pressure settings and equipment operation under supervision.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to Crew Leader I/II or Equipment Operator II.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment laydown yards.

• Work efficiently to help meet turnaround schedules and deadlines.
• Follow instructions to ensure work is completed correctly and meets quality standards.
• Maintain a strong work pace while prioritizing safety.
• Support crew efforts to avoid rework or delays.

• Work as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
• Take directions from Crew Leaders and Senior Equipment Operators.
• Assist teammates with physically demanding tasks when required.
• Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a positive attitude.

Accurately record hours worked and tasks completed (as required).

Follow permit requirements and site procedures.

Assist leadership with job checklists and compliance documentation when necessary.

• TWIC Card (required for most refinery/petrochemical sites)
• OSHA 10 (preferred)
• Basic Plus / NCCER (often required by clients)
• Confined Space Entry (site-specific)
• HAZWOPER (24 or 40 hours, preferred)

• High school diploma or GED (preferred but not always required)
  • Minimum of 1 year of industrial, construction, or general labor experience; industrial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments
• Valid Drivers License
• Willingness to work extended hours and travel during turnarounds

• Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow procedures
• Ability to take direction and work effectively in a team environment

• Basic mechanical aptitude (preferred)

• Extended shifts (typically 10–12+ hours) during turnaround events
• Day and night shift rotations with limited days off during peak activity

• High noise levels
• Heat, cold, and outdoor conditions
• Chemicals and industrial hazards
• Work in confined spaces, at heights, and around heavy equipment
• Physically demanding work, including lifting (50+ lbs), climbing, and repetitive tasks
