Location: Fuji, Japan (Hybrid)


Carrier Japan is seeking an experienced Project Manager, Procurement to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and PMO activities across our manufacturing operations. This role combines procurement category management, project governance, and cross-functional leadership to drive cost competitiveness, supply chain resilience, and successful execution of key business initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee the Compressor Parts category while leading procurement transformation projects including cost reduction, supplier negotiations, dual sourcing, and new product investment programs.


Responsibilities

· Lead procurement PMO governance across Japan factory procurement initiatives.

· Develop and maintain project dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting.

· Manage project portfolios, timelines, risks, budgets, and stakeholder communications.

· Drive standardization of procurement processes and project management methodologies.

· Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives.


· Develop and execute sourcing strategies for the compressor parts category.

· Manage and develop a team of two direct reports.

· Lead supplier negotiations to improve cost, quality, delivery, and commercial terms.

· Drive dual-sourcing and business continuity initiatives to strengthen supply chain resilience.

· Collaborate with both Local and Global Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and Operations teams to achieve business objectives.


· Lead direct negotiation projects with suppliers to drive cost optimization and value creation.

· Manage second-source qualification and supplier development projects.

· Drive material productivity and cost reduction programs through strategic sourcing initiatives.

· Support new product introduction (NPI) and investment projects by ensuring procurement readiness and supplier capability.

· Monitor and achieve procurement KPIs including material productivity, dual-sourcing targets, payment terms, and risk mitigation metrics.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.

· Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain management, or related functions.

· Proven project management experience with responsibility for cross-functional initiatives.

· Experience in supplier negotiations, category management, or strategic sourcing.

· Business-level English and Native level Japanese communication skills (TOEIC 750+ preferred).


· Experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, HVAC, automotive, electronics, or related industries.

· Team leadership or people management experience.

· Experience leading cost reduction, dual-sourcing, or supplier development initiatives.

· Knowledge of business continuity planning (BCP) and supply chain risk management.

· PMP or other project management certification is an advantage.


· Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

· Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities.

· Ability to influence and drive change across cross-functional organizations.

· Strong multitasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.

· Results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and execution excellence.
