  • Oversee cost control for new product introduction (NPI), closely monitoring the cost of the BOM for each stage of product development, as well as all associated test equipment, R&D jigs, production jigs, tooling, and third party product testing and certification.
  • Maintain regular and clear communication with global (primarily Australian) teams across a variety of functions including Supply Chain and Logistics, Support, Product, and multidisciplinary (ID, ME, EE, FW) Engineering teams to create alignment.
  • Provide technical leadership for our engineering team in Taiwan. Lead team engineering processes, technical strategy, discussion and planning. Promote innovation and collaboration through documentation, with the view of continuously lifting quality and improving.
  • Recruit, manage and grow a multidisciplinary and geographically diverse engineering team. Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members.
  • In 6 months time you will have:

    • Established manufacturing KPI dashboards covering yield, quality, cost and on-time delivery for all products.
    • Established strong relationships with EMS partners and internal engineering, supply chain, and product colleagues in Taiwan and Melbourne.
    • Established a new office location reflecting Catapult’s growth, presence and operations in Taiwan.

    • Built a high-performing team and processes allowing growth in manufacturing scale, collaboration with new production partners and integration of new and diverse product lines.
  • 10+ years experience working with electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and engineering teams designing products for manufacture, scaling production, and supporting electronic products throughout their entire lifecycle.
  • 5+ years experience leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing at least 5 projects through the new product introduction (NPI) process, from the sample stage to mass production. This should include ME/EE/FW integration products, for businesses with scale between 10k-100k pieces per year.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for electronic products, including the design and development of tooling (particularly injection molding), production jigs, and work instructions.
  • Experience with products utilising common wireless communications protocols, such as BLE, Wi-Fi, UWB and long range/low bit rate applications. Basic knowledge of firmware development and embedded Linux systems.
  • Strong (English and Mandarin Chinese) communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in communicating with manufacturers (EMS), multi-disciplinary technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe product features, and technical designs.
