Our client in the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) industry is seeking a commercially driven and strategically minded Operations Manager to provide overall leadership across business development, technology operations, project delivery, financial performance, and organizational management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a diversified technology business operating across areas such as cybersecurity, ICT infrastructure, software and systems integration, telematics, smart technologies, and large institutional projects. The role requires an executive who combines strong commercial and operational leadership with sufficient technology-business understanding to effectively manage technical teams, engage enterprise and government customers, oversee complex projects and contracts, and translate business strategy into measurable results.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the company in line with the Board of Directors’ objectives and business priorities.
- Translate the company’s strategy into clear commercial, operational, financial, and organizational objectives.
- Lead annual and long-term business planning and ensure effective execution across all business functions.
- Identify new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, service opportunities, and business lines that support sustainable growth.
- Provide regular business performance updates, strategic recommendations, and management reports to the Board of Directors.
- Lead the company’s commercial strategy with responsibility for revenue growth, customer acquisition, business development, and market expansion.
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of enterprise, institutional, government, and private-sector opportunities.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key customers, strategic partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in major customer engagements, commercial negotiations, solution discussions, and contract negotiations.
- Ensure commercial opportunities are evaluated for profitability, delivery capability, strategic value, and associated risks.
- Drive accountability for sales performance, pipeline conversion, customer retention, and sustainable revenue generation.
- Take overall accountability for the company’s financial and commercial performance.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, revenue planning, cost management, and financial performance monitoring in coordination with the finance function.
- Monitor revenue, margins, operating costs, cash flow, profitability, and overall business performance.
- Ensure projects and contracts are commercially viable and appropriately managed throughout their lifecycle.
- Review financial and operational reports and implement corrective actions where performance falls below agreed targets.
- Promote disciplined financial management and responsible allocation of company resources.
- Provide executive oversight of the company’s technology solutions, projects, and operational activities.
- Lead the successful delivery of multiple concurrent ICT and technology projects within agreed scope, timelines, budgets, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
- Work effectively with technical managers and specialists across areas such as cybersecurity, ICT infrastructure, software and systems integration, telematics, smart technologies, and related solutions.
- Ensure appropriate coordination between commercial, technical, project, finance, procurement, and administrative functions.
- Monitor major project risks, resource requirements, delivery challenges, customer expectations, and project profitability.
- Ensure operational processes support efficient and scalable delivery of the company’s products, solutions, and services.
- Promote disciplined financial management and responsible allocation of company resources.
- Provide leadership in identifying, evaluating, and pursuing relevant public and private-sector tenders and major business opportunities.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of competitive technical and commercial proposals in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Review major tender requirements, contractual obligations, commercial terms, delivery commitments, and associated business risks.
- Participate in contract negotiations and ensure the organization understands and meets its contractual obligations.
- Strengthen the company’s ability to compete effectively for government, institutional, enterprise, and large-scale technology projects.
- Ensure effective monitoring of contract performance, deliverables, milestones, variations, and customer obligations.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across technical, project delivery, sales, business development, finance, operations, and administration.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability across departments.
- Develop a collaborative and performance-driven management culture.
- Coach and support managers while ensuring they remain accountable for their respective functions.
- Identify organizational capability gaps and support recruitment, development, succession, and workforce planning.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between management, employees, and the Board.
- Ensure company operations comply with applicable laws, contractual obligations, internal policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen internal controls, operational governance, risk management, and management reporting.
- Identify strategic, financial, commercial, operational, contractual, and project risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
- Promote ethical business conduct, accountability, confidentiality, and responsible corporate governance.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Commerce, Economics, or other related field.
- A Master’s Degree or MBA will be an added advantage.
- Strong senior management experience with demonstrated responsibility for commercial performance, operations, business development, and organizational leadership.
- Proven experience within the ICT, technology, telecommunications, systems integration, digital solutions, or other technology-driven business environment is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of technology businesses and the ability to effectively lead and challenge senior technical managers without necessarily being an engineer.
- Proven experience in revenue generation, business development, enterprise sales, and strategic customer management.
- Demonstrated experience with P&L responsibility, budgeting, financial performance management, cost control, and business planning.
- Proven experience overseeing complex projects or multiple concurrent business/project activities.
- Strong experience in tendering, proposal development, contract negotiation, and contract management, particularly involving enterprise, institutional, or government customers.
- Ability to understand the commercial implications and economics of ICT solutions and technology projects.
- Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including technical and non-technical functions.
- Strong strategic thinking, commercial judgement, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive-level communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple business priorities and demanding project timelines.
- High level of integrity, accountability, leadership maturity, and business professionalism.
