Responsibilities

  • Strategic Operations Leadership: Serve as a senior operational partner to the executive leadership team, participating in quarterly strategic planning sessions to translate firm strategy into measurable operational priorities and scalable execution.
  • KPI and Reporting Development: Audit and improve existing data systems, creating firmwide KPIs and dashboards for informed decision-making.
  • Vendor and Contract Management: Inventory and evaluate vendor relationships, contracts, and operational spending to ensure cost efficiency, vendor accountability, and alignment with firm priorities. Partner with Finance to review operational expenditures, evaluate ROI, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining clear separation from ownership of the Finance function.
  • Technology & AI Governance: Oversee legal technology, technology vendors, inventories, and system utilization while developing policies for AI use, document storage, email retention, and technology governance that improve efficiency while protecting confidentiality and compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Standardize and document SOPs, improve cross-functional workflows, clarify departmental ownership, eliminate operational inefficiencies, and implement scalable processes that support continued firm growth.
  • Business Continuity and Crisis Management: Develop plans for crisis situations, ensuring minimal impact on firm operations and client services.
  • Leadership and Accountability: Lead operational initiatives with authority by setting clear priorities, establishing accountability across departments, following through on strategic initiatives, and driving consistent execution throughout the firm.
  • Executive Partnership: Serve as the primary operational liaison for senior leadership by consolidating cross-functional information, providing clear executive updates, and reducing the need for leadership to manage day-to-day operational issues directly.
  • Education: MBA, JD, or other advanced degree is a plus but not required. Equivalent experience in legal operations leadership will also be considered.
  • Operational Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a senior operations role within a law firm or related legal environment.
  • KPI and Data Proficiency: Expertise in developing and managing KPIs, data analysis, and presenting actionable insights through dashboards.
  • Legal Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of law firm operations, attorney workflows, and sector-specific technology.
  • Vendor Management Skills: Experience in negotiating and managing vendor contracts, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong executive presence, able to work with demanding personalities, and communicate complex issues clearly.
  • Tech and AI Fluency: Familiarity with legal technology and experience leveraging AI for operational efficiency.
  • Change Management: Skill in leading cross-functional initiatives and driving change across departments.

Work Environment: This role is based in New Jersey and requires a minimum of three-four days onsite each week, with flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend business needs as operational priorities require.
