Military Operations Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Military Operations Officer is responsible for the planning and execution of the military program of Culver Military Academy. Reporting to the Commandant of Cadets, this leader serves as the principal staff officer for military operations and training and ensures the effective integration of military activities with the broader academic, athletic, residential, and co-curricular programs of Culver Academies. This leader also supervises the Military Mentors and is responsible for their professional development, performance management, and evaluation. Through these responsibilities, the Military Operations Officer ensures that Culver's military system remains purposeful, well-coordinated, professionally executed, and focused on developing leaders of character. The Military Operations Officer oversees the planning and execution of military training, formations, ceremonies, parades, inspections, major military events, and the Culver Annual Review. This leader manages the CMA military calendar and coordinates requirements across the Corps of Cadets, Student Life, academic departments, Athletics, Horsemanship, Facilities, Campus Safety, and other campus partners. REQUIREMENTS:•    Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred. •    Significant experience in military operations, training, planning, logistics, education, and youth development, or a closely related field, preferred.•    Military experience is strongly preferred; experience planning and executing complex military training, ceremonies, or operations highly desirable. •    Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, coaching, and evaluating professional staff. •    Experience working with adolescents or in a residential educational environment preferred. •    Demonstrated ability to promote inclusion and develop a respect for differences in others as well as the ability to intentionally design communication, processes and assessments to be sure that they meet the needs of a range of identities and backgrounds.•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear plans, schedules, instructions, and briefings. •    Ability to build productive relationships across organizational boundaries and coordinate effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and external partners. •    Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other scheduling, planning, and information-management systems.
