Senior Technical Buyer

Reports to: Engineering Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager

The Senior Technical Buyer manages procurement of specialized technical equipment, spare parts, and engineering services. 

This role requires deep technical understanding of mining machinery and close collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams.

Source and procure complex technical components, machinery, and engineering services.

Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate procurement.

Evaluate supplier proposals for compliance with technical, safety, and quality standards.

Develop long-term supplier relationships for critical equipment and spares.

Lead technical procurement projects for plant upgrades and new installations.

Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to align procurement with project timelines.

Manage supplier performance and resolve technical supply issues promptly.

Contribute to cost optimization and reliability improvement initiatives.

Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering; or Supply Chain Management

Management with strong technical background.

Minimum 8 years' experience in technical procurement within mining, oil & gas, or

heavy industry.

In-depth knowledge of mining equipment, spare parts, and technical specifications.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.

Proficiency in ERP systems and technical documentation.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
