We’re seeking a Senior Structural Engineer who brings deep technical expertise, strong project leadership, and a collaborative mindset to complex building projects. In this role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of structural solutions from concept through construction, while managing projects, mentoring team members, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients. Acting as a design engineer and project manager on a variety of building projects of various sizes and complexity
Following through all phases of projects from concept design through construction
Working closely with our integrated team of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, as well as other partner firms
Engaging with clients to explain proposals, and present engineering reports and findings
Working with DIALOG’s specifications team to produce construction specifications
Working with DIALOG’s structural technologists to prepare structural drawing packages
Evaluating construction tenders
Building relationships of trust with clients and other outside agencies
Recruiting, mentoring and enabling the next generation of structural engineers. Coaching and reviewing the work of more junior team members
Managing projects while working with limited supervision and participating in project planning
Providing leadership for structural Contract Administration project activities. Including supervising and inspecting the installation, modification, testing and operation of structural design
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering is required, master’s degree is an asset
Professional registration with Professional Engineers Ontario or another provincial engineering association
10+ years structural design of buildings experience
Proven ability to lead the design of complex building structures across multiple material systems, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, mass timber, and masonry, selecting appropriate solutions based on project requirements.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach junior team members, supporting their professional growth and development
Working knowledge of Revit, with the ability to navigate models and perform basic tasks
LEED, Green Globes, ENV SP (or other similar sustainability) certification is considered an asset
An articulate and persuasive communicator that can convey complex technical concepts to non-technical firm leaders, staff and clients
Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines and multiple tasks/projects
