About the Role

We are hiring a DevOps Engineer to build and operate the secure, scalable infrastructure powering ADAPT. The role focuses on designing and maintaining robust cloud environments that ensure seamless connectivity, high availability, and rapid deployment across the energy sectors critical supply-chain operations.

You will manage infrastructure that supports 24/7 reliability for operators, contractors, and suppliers, enabling real-time collaboration and system resilience at industrial scale.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Manage and optimise Azure resources including compute, storage, networking, and security services.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.
  • Configure and maintain container orchestration platforms (AKS, Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Apply security-first principles across all infrastructure components and deployment pipelines.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Establish and maintain access controls, secrets management, and encryption strategies.
  • Implement secure communication protocols and ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, and related frameworks.

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Automate deployment, testing, and monitoring across multiple environments.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Implement automated security scanning and compliance checks.

  • Produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation for all systems and processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date runbooks, deployment guides, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Enforce coding standards and best practices for infrastructure code.
  • Develop and test disaster-recovery and business-continuity plans.

  • Implement end-to-end monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or equivalent tools.
  • Optimise system performance and resource utilisation.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for production issues and implement preventive measures.

  • Partner closely with development teams to understand application requirements and provide infrastructure solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in architectural reviews and propose improvements.
  • Mentor junior team members and share knowledge across the organisation.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years post-graduation experience in DevOps or similar roles.
  • Proven success managing production environments at scale.

  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure services, including:

    • Virtual Machines, App Services, Container Instances
    • Networking (VNets, Load Balancers, Application Gateway, ExpressRoute)
    • Storage Solutions and Databases
    • Active Directory and Identity Management
    • Security Center and Key Vault
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration-management tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Expertise in containerisation and orchestration technologies.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security.

  • Security mindset: ability to embed security in every design and operational decision.
  • Documentation excellence: consistent production of clear and maintainable documentation.
  • Communication skills: strong written and verbal skills with confidence engaging executives and engineers alike.
  • Problem-solving: analytical approach with calm under pressure.
  • Continuous learning: commitment to staying current with emerging tools and technologies.
  • Willingness to travel for client implementations and operational support.

Requirements

  • Azure certifications (Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Security Engineer).
  • Experience operating across multi-cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with GitOps methodologies.
  • Background in software development or system administration.
  • Prior exposure to the oil and gas sector or willingness to learn MRO supply-chain complexities.
