Position Available
Role Title: Health and Safety Coordinator
Role Description: We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Health & Safety Coordinator to lead our safety department and drive a strong, proactive safety culture across all operations. This leadership role combines strategic oversight with a visible field presence and is supported by a dedicated HR and Health & Safety Administrator
Location: Sudbury
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, evenings and weekends as needed
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for the company’s Health and Safety department, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation and internal standards
- The H&S Coordinator will report to the General Manager and work closely with our Operations Manager and leadership team to align safety initiatives with day-to-day operational activities
- Maintain a consistent and active presence in the field conducting regular on-site inspections, audits, and field observations to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable legislation
- Intervene in real-time to address safety concerns, provide coaching, solutions, and reinforce safe work practices
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations on-site, including gathering information, interviewing employees, and completing root cause analysis
- Manage WSIB claims with the assistance of the Human Resources Manager as needed
- Identify safety risks and develop practical, effective solutions, including clear implementation and follow-up plans to ensure resolution
- Partner with supervisors, managers, and employees in the field to drive accountability and continuous improvement in safety performance
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and delivery of safety training and training programs, working closely with the H&S Administrator who supports coordination, tracking and documentation
- Review safety trends and field data to proactively address recurring issues and improve overall performance
- Act as a key advisor to leadership and safety on all Health and Safety matters
- Foster a culture of safety through visible leadership, ongoing communication, and hands-on engagement
- Maintain and update health and safety documentation, including policies, procedures, safe work practices, and forms
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract
- Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- Train the Trainer certification considered an asset
- Mine Site experience considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to identify risks and implement practical, sustainable solutions
- Strong ability to manage logistic responsibility while providing visible field presence
- Must be bondable and legally able to work in Canada
- Must be flexible and available on evenings and weekends as necessary
- Strong time management, organization, communication and people skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Individuals must be comfortable and willing to work outside
- Bilingual – French and English considered an asset
Compensation and Benefits
- Wage Range: $60,000 to $65,000
- Health Spending Account (HSA)
