This is not a summer-only internship. We are actively seeking students who are currently enrolled and interested in starting immediately while continuing their education.

Location: Florence, SC


This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections and basic repairs on utility vehicles and equipment. Includes, but is not limited to passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUV’s, medium and heavy trucks, trailers and off-road equipment. Maintenance operations may take place in the garage or at field locations during various work schedules depending on business needs.


Responsibilities

  • →Performs preventative maintenance (PM) inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assists higher classification of technicians with PM’s on all vehicles and equipment.
  • →Assists with Federal DOT inspections.
  • →Adheres to all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) for DOT inspections.
  • →Provides assistance on dielectric test inspections.
  • →Performs diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, trailers and powered equipment.
  • →Maintains the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment.  
  • →Performs hydraulic brake systems and component repairs.
  • →Assists with hydraulic component repairs.
  • →Assists with air brake system inspections and repairs.
  • →Assists higher classification of technicians with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment.
  • →Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems and component repairs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a two-year degree in Automotive Technology or similar field
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must not graduate prior to May 2027

  • Effective communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate ability to interact effectively with peers, customers and management
  • Demonstrate ability to make sound decisions, exercising good judgement and setting priorities
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with computer equipment, laptops, keyboard, tablets, etc.

  • Must be able to stand and walk on concrete surface for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in garage environment with associated noise, fumes and dust and tolerate heights in aerial devices

  • Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs a distance of at least 25 feet
