The AWS Cloud Engineer provides day-to-day operational support for infrastructure and applications hosted in AWS environments as part of the AWS RUN team, focusing on monitoring system health, investigating alerts, troubleshooting service disruptions, and ensuring stable and reliable cloud operations.

The role includes monitoring environments using Amazon CloudWatch and Nagios, and responding to alerts and incidents affecting infrastructure and applications. The engineer supports compute workloads running on Amazon EC2 and container platforms such as Amazon EKS and Amazon ECS, ensuring availability and performance.

Additional responsibilities include performing routine operational activities, validating infrastructure health, maintaining accurate operational documentation, following established procedures, and escalating complex technical issues to senior engineering teams when required.

  • Handling incidents in ServiceNow generated by CloudWatch and Nagios, and prioritizing what is truly important.

  • Troubleshooting with limited context or incomplete information.

  • Working with unfamiliar AWS services and learning on the fly.

  • Managing incident pressure while still building confidence and accuracy.

  • Following established procedures while adapting to non-standard situations.

  • Coordinating with senior engineers and knowing when to escalate.

  • Avoiding repeated mistakes while building operational experience.

  • Basic understanding of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC).

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch and Nagios.

  • Understanding of incident management processes (e.g. ServiceNow).
