Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Function Review and optimize mechanical designs and prepare accurate engineering calculations, coordinated shop drawings, and BIM models for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems using AutoCAD and Revit. Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards while supporting the successful execution of projects. Key Responsibilities Review contract documents, specifications, drawings, and project requirements. Review and optimize mechanical designs, engineering calculations, and system layouts for HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems. Prepare detailed and coordinated shop drawings and BIM models using AutoCAD and Revit. Perform equipment selection and engineering calculations, including HVAC load calculations, ventilation calculations, hydraulic calculations, and pipe and duct sizing. Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and other building disciplines to resolve clashes and ensure constructability. Prepare material schedules, equipment schedules, and technical submittals. Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements. Review consultant comments and revise drawings accordingly. Attend coordination meetings and provide technical support during project execution. Support procurement and site teams by resolving technical queries and issuing drawing revisions when required. Support quantity take-offs from BIM models and shop drawings when required. Requirements Technical Skills Strong knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems. Knowledge of HVAC load calculations, hydraulic calculations, ventilation, and equipment selection. Familiarity with international standards and codes, including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC/UPC, and NF. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP. Knowledge of Navisworks is preferred. Experience with HVAC design software such as HAP or equivalent. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Soft Skills Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design and shop drawing preparation. Experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting system design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of HAP is an advantage. Good command of both English and French is required.
