THE ROLE
We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to drive the technical vision, delivery, and culture of our B2B Integrations team at Farfetch. In this critical role, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of backend and integration engineers responsible for the nervous system of our B2B ecosystem. Your team will own the core pipelines that power our platform: ingesting complex global product catalogs at scale, and ensuring the seamless, real-time routing of outbound orders and returns with our B2B partners.
You will join a dynamic, inclusive, and highly collaborative environment where engineering excellence is paramount. If you are passionate about building fault-tolerant distributed systems, scaling high-performing teams, and shaping the architecture that connects Farfetch with its global partners, this is the opportunity for you.
Lead & Empower: Manage, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of backend and integration engineers. You will conduct regular 1:1s, set clear development goals, and foster a culture of continuous feedback, psychological safety, and technical curiosity.
Drive Technical Excellence: Own the lifecycle and health of our B2B integration domain. You will guide architectural decisions to ensure our product ingestion, order relay, and return pipelines are scalable, resilient, and observable.
Partner with Product: Collaborate closely with Product Managers to translate business requirements into a robust technical roadmap. You will help prioritize the backlog, balancing new feature delivery with crucial technical debt management and infrastructure scaling.
Champion Best Practices: Act as a standard-bearer for modern software development life cycle (SDLC) practices, advocating for CI/CD, test automation, site reliability, and agile methodologies across the engineering organization.
Scale the Team: Actively contribute to talent acquisition, interviewing, and building comprehensive onboarding plans to attract and retain top-tier engineering talent.
An Experienced Leader: You have a proven track record of managing and developing high-performing, multidisciplinary software engineering teams.
A Domain Expert in Integrations: You have deep technical experience building and scaling high-throughput integration pipelines, B2B data exchanges (APIs, Webhooks, EDI), and event-driven architectures.
Technically Grounded: While you may not code every day, you are a capable technical reference who can review architecture and guide teams using modern, cloud-native technology stacks. You have a strong background in distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and technologies relevant to our ecosystem (e.g., modern .NET, Node.js/TypeScript, Kafka/RabbitMQ, NoSQL databases like Cassandra or MongoDB, and Cloud infrastructure).
An Agile Practitioner: You have a solid understanding of agile product development and the DevOps mindset, taking ownership of software from inception through to production and continuous monitoring.
A Master Communicator: You possess the emotional intelligence and communication skills to build strong relationships with various stakeholders, bridging the gap between highly technical concepts and business outcomes.
Education: You hold a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or have equivalent real-world experience demonstrating a deep foundation in software engineering principles.
