A Day in the Life of a Project Manager

As a Project Manager, you'll start your day by reviewing active projects, priorities, budgets, and schedules to ensure work is progressing toward successful and profitable completion. You'll manage projects valued over $100K within a single business line, overseeing daily activities and coordinating teams, resources, and timelines. You'll evaluate scopes of work, monitor project costs, and ensure quality standards are consistently met while keeping customers and stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.

Throughout the day, you'll work closely with field teams, customers, subcontractors, and internal partners to address challenges and keep projects moving forward. You'll review Xactimate scopes, evaluate project requirements, and use your knowledge of local, state, and federal codes and inspection requirements to ensure work is completed correctly and in compliance with applicable standards. When unexpected issues arise, you'll use your problem-solving skills to develop solutions while balancing scope, budget, schedule, quality, and customer expectations.

Safety will be a priority in everything you do. You'll ensure delivery teams follow safe work practices and applicable First Onsite and legislative safety requirements, while making sure appropriately trained and deployed trades have the resources they need to perform their work safely. You'll communicate project expectations, monitor progress, and hold teams accountable for delivering quality results. Every day, your leadership will bring together people, planning, technical expertise, and financial oversight to deliver successful projects that meet customer needs and support the profitability of First Onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects from start to finish, including full oversight and quality control
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, timelines, and budgets
  • Review, approve, and manage subcontractor proposals, scopes, and change orders
  • Maintain all project documentation: daily logs, reports, inventories, and records
  • Coordinate with leadership on scope, buy-outs, and reserves
  • Perform billing reviews, audits, and invoicing
  • Monitor project risks and proactively address schedule or budget issues
  • Respond to on-call needs and manage technician/subcontractor availability, 24/7
  • Fill in as needed, including hands-on tasks and additional responsibilities

Experience & Education:

  • 2+ years as Assistant Project Manager
  • Skilled in construction drawings, specs, and take-offs
  • Supervised 2+ Area Wide Events
  • Experience in DR or GC
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7+ current industry certifications
  • Valid driver's license
