About the Role

The mission of the Engineering Program Management Office (PMO) is to implement program and project management methodologies that enable Fivetran to deliver complex products and initiatives on time and within expectations.  In addition, the Engineering PMO serves as the subject-matter expert on project and program management standards, directing a department-wide approach to project delivery and communication. You will help plan, track, and execute the company's most critical and cross-cutting product and engineering objectives. You will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing complex programs and projects, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers. You will communicate and work in close collaboration with partners across the engineering team as well as other business partners to achieve this vision. 

This is a full-time position based out of our Novi Sad, Serbia office.

What You’ll Do

Program/Project Management

• Manage key engineering projects, and/or programs, or initiatives from initiation to closing.
• Provide regular status updates on a variety of internal channels to all levels of the organization.
• Define program charters, plans, and schedules. Drive Program execution.
• Drive Product representatives in providing timely direction and requirements. 
• Lead internal cross-functional teams in engineering and validation activities.
• Ensure tight inter-team coordination and communication.
• Digest, understand, and communicate complex, technical/engineering issues.
• Identify and resolve conflicts or issues quickly, efficiently, and effectively.
• Surface and mitigate risks or defects, and lead technical task forces to ensure proper risk responses or issue resolution.
• Manage interdependencies across multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholders, including platform, SRE, & QA.
• Develop creative solutions, remove obstacles, and redefine approaches to balance cost, quality, and delivery priorities.
• Work closely with product management, data analytics, enablement & support.
• Define and own specific program metrics and objectives.
• Track and report on PMO KPIs.
   

Process Improvement

• Act as a role model for project management processes.
• Surface feedback and enhancement to processes.
• Align stakeholders and team members towards project management best practices.

Skills We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in a technical position (software engineer, QE, platform engineer, etc.)
• 6+ years of experience in technical project/program management
• Software project management experience is a strong plus
• Agile and waterfall project/program management experience
• Familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Trello
• Can lead large and complex initiatives with minimal oversight.
• Can introduce structure and order in volatile conditions.
• Can clarify vague goals and requirements.
• AI LLMs and AI Agents usage proficiency.
• In-depth knowledge of the technologies and methodologies used in program management.
• Ability to work directly with senior leadership on programs, including leading R&D-wide (engineering, product, design, security) initiatives from start to finish.
• You can facilitate discussions with engineering subject-matter experts on topics such as System Design, Data Architecture, Infrastructure Management (including cost management), and Quality in the context of engineering operations. 
• Ability to leverage AI to increase your own productivity and leverage it in the solutions you’re building.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact and collaborate with technical and non-technical groups at all levels.
• A data-driven and action-oriented mindset with excellent planning, analytical, problem-solving, project/program management, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Proficient in addressing technical issues and providing effective mitigation plans.
• Can align team members to program goals and objectives.
• Conveys a clear understanding of how own activities relate to critical business drivers.
• Discourages “us vs them” thinking in self and others.
• Stays calm and professional even when situations become difficult.

Bonus Skills​

• Start-up experience a strong plus
• PMP certification is a plus
• Familiarity with the following technologies is a plus: Cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), ETL or ELT, modern data stack.
