About Frequency:

Frequency is a New Zealand-owned project advisory consultancy. We work alongside clients from day one, bringing practical delivery knowledge and experienced people into complex projects — often in live operational environments where judgement, coordination and relationships matter.

The Opportunity:

Our Tauranga office is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced project manager to join the team. This role is suited to someone with 5+ years’ experience who enjoys technically complex work and brings a client-side background in delivery of industrial, infrastructure, electrical or mechanical services projects.

You’ll work across a range of projects and client environments, with a particular focus on industrial and infrastructure-related delivery. Some projects will involve operational or brownfield environments where planning, stakeholder management and sound delivery judgement are critical. Others may span broader capital works, upgrades or improvements where strong coordination and a practical approach are key. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of delivery, build confidence with clients and project teams, and bring a calm, structured approach when projects are complex or fast-moving.

We spoke with Ben Drake, Senior Associate in the Tauranga office, about what success looks like in this role: “Doing well in this role is about building trust and following through. Our clients need people who can step into complex environments, understand what matters quickly, and help bring clarity and structure to delivery. If you communicate well, stay on top of the detail, and take ownership, you’ll add real value.”

What you'll do:

  • Deliver projects across industrial, infrastructure, and operational environments from planning through to handover
  • Support or lead project delivery across scope, programme, budget, risk, reporting and governance Coordinate clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to keep projects progressing
  • Support planning for disruptive works, staging, shutdowns or critical delivery interfaces where required
  • Contribute to procurement processes, contract administration, and delivery planning
  • Help identify risks and issues early, and work with project teams to develop practical solutions
  • Maintain a strong health and safety lens throughout project delivery
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and project teams, while contributing to a positive team culture internally

What sets you up for success:

  • 5+ years’ experience in project delivery within New Zealand Client-side PM experience in industrial and/or infrastructure environments - brownfield Healthcare project experience a bonus
  • A technical background in electrical, mechanical, engineering, construction or building services delivery experience
  • Confidence coordinating across multiple disciplines, stakeholders and phases of delivery
  • Clear communication, strong organisation, and a practical, solutions-focused approach Familiarity with NZ procurement processes and contracts such as NZS 3910 or 3916 is useful, but not essential
  • A willingness to keep developing both your delivery capability and your consulting skill set

We also offer:

  • Five weeks’ annual leave
  • 4.5% employer KiwiSaver contribution
  • Enhanced parental leave Wellbeing benefit and access to EAP for you and your whānau
  • Learning and development support, including forums, training budgets and professional memberships
  • Regular team connection moments and events

If you’re excited about the opportunity to join a high-performing team that’s passionate about delivering results, we’d love to hear from you!
