Gasfin is where engineering meets impact. Since 2009, we’ve been building and managing world-class LNG infrastructure projects across the globe—from the drawing board to real-world delivery. Our clients include governments, energy companies, and infrastructure operators, all working toward the same goal: secure, stable, and sustainable energy.
In 2023, we became the lead consultant and in 2025 also the On-Site Operations Manager for Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET)—Germany’s state-owned terminal operator, created to respond to the national energy supply challenges triggered by the Ukraine crisis.
We believe energy should be reliable, affordable, and future-ready. That’s why we view LNG as a powerful transition fuel on the path to greener energy systems.
The Head of Operations will be responsible for providing senior-level technical and operational leadership and ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the LNG FSRU terminals. This is a senior leadership role requiring extensive LNG or natural gas expertise, sound technical judgement and the ability to manage complex operational, regulatory and commercial interfaces. The position acts as the company’s primary technical and operational authority and assumes decision-making responsibility in the absence of the Managing Director.
- Provide strategic oversight of the day-to-day technical operation of LNG FSRU terminals, including regasification systems, cryogenic storage, boil-off gas management and gas grid feed-in.
- Act as the primary technical authority for operational teams and engineering functions, providing expert guidance and escalation support on complex technical matters.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality performance across terminal operations, maintenance, asset integrity and engineering activities.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analyses for critical equipment and process issues requiring senior engineering judgement.
- Ensure compliance with applicable European and national regulations, technical codes, classification requirements, safety standards and company policies.
- Review and approve CAPEX and OPEX proposals, engineering modifications and technical upgrades, with accountability for technical scope, operational impact and budget.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset reliability, technical performance, energy efficiency and safety culture.
- Coordinate closely with Commercial, Terminal Management and HSE functions, ensuring effective alignment across operational and strategic priorities.
- Represent the company at a senior technical level in dealings with authorities, engineering contractors, suppliers, classification societies and other external stakeholders.
- Interface with gas grid operators and regulatory stakeholders regarding the technical requirements for gas network integration.
- Provide senior technical leadership during emergency response, incident management and contingency planning.
- Monitor technical and operational performance indicators and provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Contribute to regular reporting, both to internal and external stakeholders.
- The role will have at least 4 direct reports and multiple indirects.
