About the Role
~1 min readAs an early career Electrical Engineer at General Matter, you will help build the electrical systems at the heart of a new generation of enrichment technology. From sensors and actuators to power electronics, controls, and safety-critical firmware, you will work directly on hardware that must perform reliably in one of the most demanding engineering environments.
You will be trusted with meaningful technical ownership, work alongside experienced engineers across disciplines, and follow your designs from early concepts and circuit boards through bring-up, testing, manufacturing, and deployment. You will learn quickly by building, testing, breaking, and improving real systems.
This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who wants broad technical exposure, enjoys solving difficult problems with their hands, and is excited to contribute to fast-moving, Skunkworks-style projects with national importance.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Design and develop highly reliable electrical systems and components for General Matter's enrichment technology.
- →Conduct systems trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, design documentation, manufacturing planning, and production test for electrical designs.
- →Create development and qualification testing campaigns to exercise designs to their limits and ensure reliable enrichment hardware.
- →Work with experts from other teams and departments to ensure that fielded systems perform their intended function while being efficient, manufacturable, and reliable; challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
- Strong understanding of one or more of the following: electrical systems architecture, circuit design, PCBA layout, and/or harness design.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
- 3+ years of design experience designing power electronics (research and extracurricular academic projects qualify).
- Experience developing new hardware, not just incremental updates.
- Experience in firmware development, electromagnetic simulation, or electromechanical integration.
- Comfortable quickly learning new analysis methodologies, simulations tools, and circuit topologies.
- Maintains high standards of technical documentation by ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Proactively communicates progress and risks and contributes to a culture of transparency.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

What We Offer
~1 min readThe base salary range for this role is $96,000-$107,000 annually.
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
