We're seeking curious, collaborative professionals who share our commitment to solving complex challenges and creating lasting value.

Join a connected global team of talented people who bring diverse perspectives and work together to make a positive impact.

GHD is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join our Global Internal Audit team.

In this role, you will lead assigned process and operational audit engagements from planning and scoping through fieldwork, reporting, and close-out. You will work with stakeholders across functions and geographies to evaluate business processes, risks, and controls, using both traditional audit techniques and modern data analytics.

This opportunity is well suited to a proactive, data-literate auditor who can work with a high degree of independence, navigate complex information, and translate analysis into clear, practical, and evidence-based insights.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Lead assigned internal audit engagements, managing planning, fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, timelines, deliverables, reporting, and file close-out.
  • Conduct pre-audit research and risk assessments and develop audit scopes, work programs, information requests, meeting agendas, and delivery plans.
  • Facilitate process walkthroughs with process owners and management to understand business processes, systems, data flows, risks, and key controls.
  • Assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls through sample-based testing, data analytics, and full-population analysis, where appropriate.
  • Apply critical thinking, professional judgment, and professional skepticism to evaluate evidence, challenge assumptions, identify emerging risks, and determine root causes.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends, anomalies, and higher-risk transactions and to generate insights beyond traditional sample-based testing.
  • Use tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, and Microsoft Fabric to extract, transform, reconcile, analyze, and visualize data.
  • Evaluate the completeness, accuracy, and reliability of data used for audit testing and clearly document analytical procedures, assumptions, and conclusions.
  • Assess technology-enabled business processes, including the interaction between enterprise systems, data flows, automated controls, and manual controls.
  • Prepare clear, complete, and reviewable audit workpapers in accordance with the Internal Audit team’s methodology and templates.
  • Develop concise and balanced audit observations and reports that describe the issue, root cause, risk, potential consequence, and practical recommendations.
  • Work constructively with management to validate findings and support the development of appropriate action plans, accountable owners, and target completion dates.
  • Present audit results to management and other key stakeholders and respond objectively to questions, challenges, and additional evidence.
  • Follow up on management actions and assess whether the agreed actions and underlying risks have been appropriately addressed.
  • Support quarterly Internal Audit reporting for senior leadership and the Board Audit Committee.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Internal Audit methodologies, templates, analytics capabilities, and ways of working, including the responsible use of AI-enabled tools.
  • Support special projects, including confidential integrity- and fraud-related investigations, as required.
