Manager, Vehicle Operations

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager, Vehicle Operations is responsible for the effective day-to-day management of Gamma Mobility's vehicle fleet, ensuring high vehicle uptime, timely maintenance, deployment readiness, asset integrity, and efficient lifecycle management. The role coordinates vehicle maintenance, repairs, telematics, insurance, distribution, vendors, and end-of-life processes while monitoring key operational metrics and ensuring compliance with established policies and SLAs. The Manager works closely with Supply Chain, Telematics, Operations, Recovery, Finance, and external partners to minimise downtime and maximise vehicle utilisation and asset value. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Vehicle Operations & Fleet Performance Manage day-to-day vehicle operations and ensure vehicles are available, roadworthy, and deployment-ready. Monitor Active Rate, vehicle uptime, downtime, deployment readiness, and repair turnaround time. Track idle vehicles and drive timely resolution of issues affecting availability. Prepare regular fleet performance reports and escalate key exceptions and risks. Implement approved Vehicle Operations policies, SOPs, and SLAs. 2. Maintenance & Vehicle Lifecycle Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance across the fleet. Ensure routine and major repairs are completed within approved SLAs. Maintain accurate vehicle service, repair, health, and downtime records. Monitor vehicle health and proactively address recurring mechanical issues. Coordinate vehicles through acquisition, deployment, maintenance, refurbishment, redeployment, and end-of-life. 3. OEM, Aftersales & Vendor Management Manage day-to-day relationships with OEMs, workshops, mechanics, and aftersales partners. Monitor vendor performance against agreed quality, turnaround time, and cost standards. Coordinate warranty claims and ensure eligible claims are recovered promptly. Escalate recurring quality, parts, or service issues to the Head of Vehicle Operations. Support OEM and vendor performance reviews with operational data and insights. 4. Telematics, Insurance & Vehicle Documentation Coordinate with Telematics to ensure vehicles have active and functional tracking devices. Monitor and resolve telematics issues within agreed SLAs. Maintain accurate vehicle documentation, including insurance and service records. Monitor insurance renewals and coordinate claims administration. Ensure vehicles meet all required documentation and readiness standards before deployment. 5. Asset Control, Risk & Compliance Maintain accurate records of vehicle location, custody, condition, and status. Coordinate vehicle incident reporting, investigation, recovery, repair, and resolution. Monitor vehicle and parts inventory to minimise losses, leakages, and misuse. Support audits and ensure compliance with Vehicle Operations policies and controls. Coordinate the assessment and processing of vehicles requiring refurbishment, salvage, write-off, or disposal. 6. Team Management & Continuous Improvement Supervise the Vehicle Operations team and monitor performance against agreed KPIs. Ensure team members follow established processes, controls, and SLAs. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement approved process improvements. Work cross-functionally to resolve operational bottlenecks and improve fleet performance. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field. 4–6 years' experience in fleet management, vehicle operations, automotive, logistics, or related operations. Experience managing vehicle maintenance, repairs, vendors, and operational teams. Strong analytical, reporting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and operational reporting tools. Ability to work in high-growth, fast-paced environments. Good analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
