In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.


To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:



Instrumentation  Engineer

G Mining is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Engineer to join our team for the Oko West Gold Mine Project in Guyana. The Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, calibration, maintenance, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe plant operations.



Key Responsibilities:


Detailed Engineering and Design:

  • Develop and prepare detailed instrumentation and control system designs for industrial and process plant applications.
  • Design and review instrumentation layouts, loop diagrams, control narratives, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and I/O lists.
  • Specify instrumentation equipment including transmitters, analyzers, control valves, sensors, PLC systems, and SCADA interfaces.
  • Ensure all instrumentation designs comply with project specifications, safety standards, and applicable international/local codes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate instrumentation systems into overall project design.

Pre-Construction Coordination:

  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure instrumentation designs are practical for field implementation.
  • Review and approve instrumentation technical documentation and vendor drawings.
  • Support procurement activities by evaluating technical specifications for instrumentation equipment and systems.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and technical reviews.

Site-Based Construction Supervision:

  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and automation systems at site.
  • Ensure all installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to monitor instrumentation construction activities.
  • Conduct inspections, calibration verification, and loop checks.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues during construction and commissioning phases.

 

System Optimization and Maintenance:

  • Monitor instrumentation performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and reliability.
  • Develop calibration procedures and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Support automation optimization initiatives to improve operational performance and gold recovery.

 

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare technical reports on project progress, commissioning activities, and system performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system modifications, calibrations, and commissioning records.
  • Provide regular updates to project management.
  • Health & Safety:

 

  • Promote and enforce G Mining’s health and safety standards.
  • Ensure all instrumentation work is performed in compliance with local and international safety regulations.





  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in instrumentation engineering, preferably within mining or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of process instrumentation, PLC systems, SCADA, and DCS.
  • Experience with calibration, loop testing, and commissioning of instrumentation systems.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, site-based environment.





Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in gold mining or mineral processing projects.
  • Familiarity with Guyana’s environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Previous experience working in remote project locations.

Additional information

  • 2-year contract for the engineering and construction phase, with potential for permanent employment.
  • Initial work may be performed on a work-from-home basis.
