In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

 

To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:

 

Short term Planner 

 

G Mining Ventures is seeking a short-term planning Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering superintendent, and working closely with the senior Mine Engineer and Mine ops teams, the Short-Term Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and managing short-term mine plans (daily, weekly, and monthly) for open-pit and underground mining operations

This role is critical in ensuring the effective translation of medium- and long-term mine plans into executable operational plans, while meeting safety, production, cost, and quality objectives.

Short-term Mine planning

  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans based on approved medium- and long-term mine plans.
  • Prepare detailed mining sequences, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and dumping activities.
  • Ensure alignment between production targets, equipment availability, and operational constraints.
  • Continuously adjust short-term plans based on field conditions, actual performance, and operational changes.

Operational support

  • Provide daily technical support to Mine Operations to ensure effective execution of short-term plans.
  • Participate in daily and weekly planning, coordination, and production meetings.
  • Identify deviations between planned and actual performance and propose corrective actions.
  • Support operations during critical phases such as start-up, phase changes, and ramp-up.





Performance Monitoring & Control

  • Track key performance indicators including tons mined, grades, dilution, and recovery.
  • Analyze production variances and document root causes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of short-term planning processes and tools.

 

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Geology, Survey, Maintenance, and Health & Safety teams.
  • Integrate geological updates and survey information into short-term plans.
  • Ensure clear communication between Engineering and Operations teams.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all short-term plans comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Identify and report planning-related risks and unsafe conditions.
  • Actively promote a zero-harm safety culture through realistic and well-controlled planning.

 

Leadership & Team Contribution

  • Work under the guidance of the Senior Mine Engineer and Engineering Superintendent.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of short-term planning standards and best practices.
  • Support training of supervisors and field teams on plan execution and understanding.
  • Act as the primary short-term planning interface between Engineering and Operations.

 

Experience

  • Experience in short-term mine planning, preferably in a greenfield, start-up, or ramp-up environment.
  • Understanding of mining operations (open-pit and underground).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, site-based environment.

 

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, Datamine, MineSight, Surpac, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of mining sequences, dilution control, and operational constraints.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and develop practical, field-ready solutions.

 

 

Qualifications/Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Typically 2–5 years of relevant experience in mine engineering or planning roles.
