In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

Truck Driver- General Freight
The General Freight Driver operates flatbed trailers, lowbed trailers, dump trucks, and box trucks to transport materials, equipment, aggregates, and general cargo between Oko Barge Landing and the Oko Mine site. This is the workhorse of the transport fleet — everything from containers and structural steel to gravel, provisions, and spare parts moves on these trucks. The General Freight Driver must be versatile across vehicle types, skilled at load securing, and capable of operating on challenging unpaved haul roads in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate assigned trucks on the haul road between Oko Barge Landing and Oko Mine site, including flatbed trailers, lowbed trailers, articulated dump trucks, and box/freight trucks.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections including tires, brakes, fluids, lights, load securing devices, and safety equipment. Report all deficiencies immediately.
- Secure all loads properly using chains, straps, binders, and blocking/bracing appropriate to the cargo type. Flatbed and lowbed loads require special attention to weight distribution and tie-down points.
- Transport containers, structural steel, pipe, lumber, provisions, spare parts, and general materials as directed by the wharf operations team.
- Operate articulated dump trucks for aggregate and laterite hauling — road maintenance, construction support, and stockpile operations as directed by the Logistics Supervisor.
- Transport heavy equipment on lowbed trailers (excavators, loaders, compactors) with proper securing and route planning for oversized loads.
- Coordinate with the Logistics Clerk and Coordinator to confirm load details, priority, destination, and timing before each trip.
- Load and unload materials at the barge landing and mine site, working with crane operators, riggers, and warehouse personnel.
- Follow all designated haul routes and speed limits. No deviation from established roads without authorization.
- Report any road hazards, washouts, bridge conditions, or unsafe situations to the Logistics Supervisor or General Foreman immediately.
- Complete all required trip documentation including waybills, delivery tickets, and material transit records. Hand documentation to the Logistics Clerk upon return.
- Assist with barge loading and unloading operations when required, positioning trucks for crane access.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and follow all company HSE policies and procedures.
Maintain assigned vehicle cleanliness and report any mechanical issues for timely maintenance
