Maintenance Engineer - Hampton Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront South

Located along the scenic Virginia Beach boardwalk, the Hampton Inn Virginia Beach-Oceanfront South offers a refreshed oceanfront experience following a full renovation in 2024. Situated at 1011 Atlantic Avenue, the hotel is steps from local attractions, shopping, and dining, and just nine blocks from the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The property features 141 oceanfront guest rooms and suites, each with private balconies overlooking the sweeping Atlantic coastline and the iconic Virginia Beach Fishing Pier. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems. This role supports the engineering team in maintaining guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure a comfortable and well-maintained environment for guests and employees. The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in preventative maintenance programs, responding to work orders, and assisting with property improvements while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.

1.       Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests from guests, staff, and management.

2.       Maintain mechanical rooms and equipment areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

3.       Perform daily inspections of public areas and facilities to identify and address maintenance concerns.

4.       Conduct repairs and maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, and administrative offices.

5.       Assist in implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs for hotel equipment and facilities.

6.       Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks.

7.       Ensure maintenance projects are completed efficiently and in accordance with company standards and specifications.

8.       Collaborate with front office and housekeeping teams to address maintenance issues that impact guest experience.

9.       Complete required reports, work orders, and documentation in accordance with company procedures.

10.   Assist with renovation, remodeling, and construction projects as needed.

11.   Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and applicable building codes.

12.   Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related field preferred.

1.       Two to five years of practical experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related engineering field preferred.

2.       Experience with hotel or hospitality maintenance operations strongly preferred.

3.       Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and building systems operations.

4.       Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems.

2.       Ability to manage multiple maintenance tasks in a fast-paced environment.

3.       Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and energy management programs.

4.       Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

6.       Ability to remain calm and effective when responding to urgent maintenance issues or emergencies.

7.       Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call situations.

This position requires a flexible schedule based on operational needs. Hours may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations. 

This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and safely operate tools and maintenance equipment. The position also requires manual dexterity and the ability to work in a variety of maintenance environments throughout the property.
